Default location of installation of IDM has now changed to

C:\Users\Roger D\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Internet Download Manager

Can it be one of the reason..?

Did that happen on its own or did you change the default location?

If you did not change it - you have an infection.

After backing-up your existing IDM configurations, performing a complete de-install (with all due laundry) - what happens when you install a fresh copy?

This is nothing to fear of, its just the start menu entry consisting of only shortcuts, if you look through carefully.

The original file will be residing in Program Files only,do check and tell. ;)

Nope! the whole program was installed in that location not the shortcuts..

I had even tried reinstalling to check the default location..and yes Dcs18 was right.. kuch na kuch to gadbad tha :P

Just unistalled IDM with Total uninstaller.. and then did a fresh install..

the dafault location is now changed to the original location.. and yes.. problem is solved..

everything is working fine even after system restart..

Thanks Bro.. :coolwink:

Just for the sake of insurance - reconfirm (the installation directory) after executing another reboot. B)

This is the start menu entry which when translated in explorer looks like this.

I'm not noobs.. :s I know the difference between shortcuts and the actual file..

In my case, in that location all 54 files were present.. not the shortcuts..

I had even tried reinstalling.. and default location for installation was in start menu :o

When u r testing whether the clean install is successful or not, a point to note is to make sure u check in both circumstances -

1. open chrome when IDM is running in tray and then check.

2. open chrome when IDM is not running in tray and check.

A third one is clearing all browsing history and then checking the links itself(VDO integration etc.).

Yupp! working.. :P

I'm not using any medicine for IDM.. I'm using genuine purchased license (thanks to Ponting ) :coolwink:

Still not sure how my system got infected.. :tooth:
