Karamjit
Businesses are heading towards more productive social sitesSocial media has become the most useful tool that businesses resort to to promote their products, and Facebook was once considered the most effective means to reach a targeted audience. However, things seem to have taken a disadvantageous turn for the networking site.Despite the fact that it is constantly trying to come up with new ways to attract new advertisers, things are not working out as envisioned. The company recently launched a new ad format for mobile, which allows potential customers to scroll through multiple images from within a single ad, but it is still not enough to persuade businesses of its reliability as a marketing environment. In an interview with The Age, Jane Lu, chief executive for Showpo, the online shopping space specially designed for "pony" girls claims Facebook is now useless as a marketing tool. She says that the many changes that Facebook has implemented on its algorithm have had negative effects on the way they connect to their customers. This is why they now turn to its daughter company, Instagram, as a more reliable way to engage their clients and advertise their merchandise.Despite its considerably smaller number of users compared to the 1.44 billion that Facebook boasted about in its quarterly results, Instagram manages to capture people’s interest more effectively. The Instagram page has more followers than the Facebook one, and the number of likes per post is also comparatively bigger.Furthermore, she states the company has known a substantial increase in sales ever since they started concentrating more on promoting their products on Instagram and less on Facebook. At this rate, Facebook is prone to lose more and more businesses currently using the site as an advertising platform, making it difficult for businesses to connect with customers in an era when most people rely on social media for information. From: http://webscripts.softpedia.com/blog/Facebook-Is-Losing-Its-Credibility-as-a-Marketing-Tool-481489.shtml
