useless Playlater; a huge time waster, only records, does not download.

Every so often I look around to see if there's any new way to grab videos from Netflix...

What I mean is to somehow REALLY download them; NOT just capturing them.

(Capturing in real-time is just absurd - and if that is all that is possible then it is more efficient to just get the DVD rentals & copy those for later watching.)

Lots of apps do claim to capture their streams in real time from your screen, and I didn't find anything claiming success in downloading from there... until now.

Their info makes it seem as if you need a PC AND a console to use what they offer - but right now their 'lifetime' deal is so cheap that it may be worth getting IF it actually enables folks to download from Netflix (and others ??).

Has anyone here successfully downloaded videos from Netflix using this or any other means ??

Doggone it - it is just another form of capture...just in the background - same problems though, along with others they've added.

In my curiosity I searched & read some more about this and finally found this:

The most important thing to know is that PlayLater works by recording videos in real time. If you want a copy of a movie, the process will take about 90 minutes or however long that movie is. The video plays in the background and you can’t hear or see it, so it’s possible to go on using the computer while recording. Just know that this might affect the recording. PlayLater is still using resources and your connection to stream. So doing things that tax the graphics card or slow down the connection may result in a lower quality video. We ended up queuing several recordings and let PlayLater run overnight.

The PlayLater software inserts a slide with your name, email address, and IP address at the beginning and the end of each recorded video, so you probably don’t want to upload these videos to the Pirate Bay.

Also, they admit that you do not need both of their apps to record the streams, but they only offer them bundled, which seems rather goofy to me.

Looks like there's nothing new & great to grab Netflix content with after all...pity.

It downloads the netflix movie in about 3 minutes in HD!
The problem is that the files remain only playable in the app itself.
The files the app downloads are: 3 .m3u8 files. 1 AAC file (the movies audio), the video file in a weird format "Example.ts.prdy" , and a .Key file..."
