Hey everybody, here I go with some issues with the display on my new laptop

Win 8.1 x64

This is the laptop:

So when I connect it to LCD TV with the HDMI cable this happens:

I am using the latest video driver for the Intel HD Graphics 4400

If I reboot the computer with the HDMI plugged in, the display is working properly.

Any ideas why this is happening?

Have you tried manually changing the resolution, what happens if you take the hdmi out & re-insert ?

After rebooting it will work correctly as windows is detecting an alternate display to what it was initialy configured for, in this case your laptop screen, that's why the start menu appears to be floating, on the tv as the resolution is bigger.

If I change the resolution the issue still happens but with different resolution :/

If I unplug the HDMI and then plug it back in happens again.

Also setting is that the laptop screen to be off so I can watch a movie on the TV

Yes, Once I put media player classic in full screen the movie plays in full screen without any problems.
