dabourzannan
I have multiple folders each one contains around 1000 to 1500 files the files are not huge they are around 100 KB, all files are excel, PDF or word. I need to search inside those files for words such as a name in order to re-arrange them properly and trying to open every file to find what I am looking for is almost impossible and will take month to complete. Is there a way or even an application that I can use to do this job?Appreciate any help.

dabourzannan
Thanks to everyone trying to help me I will be trying your suggestions as my task is rather complicated and I need all the help I can get, the files in question are recovered from damaged HDD they are all serial numbered and I have to classify them first according to names then according to dates. being recovered the file attributes are lost, they all have the same creation and modification date that makes searching for those useless, so I have to find the information I will use for classification from the text inside every one of them. The point here is after I do the first classification which is by name, I think that can easily be done with any of those tools you kindly suggested, these files needs to be re-arranged by the date they were written, and that is the hard part because I can not use the option to open each file, there is over 150,000 of them. You can use a forensic analysis tool like PassMark OSForensics Professional which will open all files for you but i think you have to search for a particular term then to arrange files.personally have no experience in using it. My suggestion would be to arrange by alphabetical order of the title given in file

My suggestion would be to arrange by alphabetical order of the title given in fileThat would have been nice if the files have different titles, to give you more details, these are documents belong to various customers, so maybe 500 of them belong to one name, only difference are the serial numbers and dates. This only leaves the option of using one of these two parameters for re-arranging,

It can help you. try and then post what happened

Ghazi
I have checked GrepWin tool, and I am trying to learn how to use it now, Truth is I am not that professional in using such a tool. You just have to learn a little.I tried fileseek and it can do what you want. You can search for a particular name and can specify folder path and also the extension if you want. It will dispaly all the files that has the name. Then you can arrange them as you like. The arranging part is I think is time consuming. At least you do not have to open each and every file. Try it and report back
