I have noticed VLC plays some videos and DVDs very jerky, but the same videos play smoothly on MPC.

It could be me.

The same thing can incidentally happen with other players. MPC is presented as lightweight. And I think that is very true. In my opinion VLC player is in another league.

Just play a lot of stuff and draw your own conclusion about what works for you. :)

You can go to the Frontpage and check Changelog to see what's new.

//www.nsanedown.com/?request=236016

If nothing is there yet, the Videolan site can be checked, for instance here:

http://www.videolan.org/developers/vlc-branch/NEWS

If nothing is there yet either, we may be out of luck for now.

I agree 'mpv' is now better AND smaller. Getting your '.mpv' config file settings correct makes all the difference.

At the moment 'mpv player' hardly seems fit for mass use.

No obvious links to windows versions (with only 1,2 percent PC's running Linux on the planet).

Issues and instructions from start to finish. For now, in my view, its a plaything for geeks.

MPV is integrated into SMPlayer - http://smplayer.sourceforge.net

Its a really nice media player, Youtube works great.

Yes, First impression is good. It plays anything I throw at it in a hurry:

avi, mp4, mp3, m4a, mkv, vob, mpg, m2v

Good find.

If my previous comment is ripe for the scrap heap, I am all for it! :)
