I have my computer backup made on a USB flash drive instead of DVD's, I need to use this USB drive now, is there any way that I can transfer this into multiple DVD's.

Thanks for any help.

Hi, HJ-Split work with all kind of files.

I've used it a lot of times for ISO, RAR, GHO (ghost), and backup files.

Anyway it is wise to try it first:

1 - Checksum (the file you want to split) and take a not of it;

2 - Split (to the size you want DVD= 4,7GB or DL=8,5GB) I would do a little less, 4,6 or 8,4;

3 - Revert the process, join the files to the original one;

4 - Checksum and compare with first result.

The program also have a "Compare" feature, but I've never used it.

Hope this will help, cheers.

The purpose of HJ-Split is to split a larger file into multiple smaller files that later can be joined as the original file was.

it should be noted that copying one single huge file to a filmsy medium such as dvd is NOT advisable. any single scratch, finger print or dust speckle would invalidate the whole file. not to mention that the maximum file size in ISO-9600 standard is 2048mb

for the same reason, a "naked" format such as HJSplit is less than optimal. so you should look for a container format with some kind of recovery system in case it fails to read a few bytes.

one such format is RAR, but you must enable the recovery option. and sections should not be any larger than 100mb. also avoid password encryption if possible.

Teodz1984 and VileTouch, thank you for taking the time to help me. If I understand you right your suggestion is to compress the contents of the USB and split it by RAR format. I did not understand the part of the recovery option in VileTouch reply, where shall I enable this, and in case I need to use them I will have to decompress them somewhere first, copy them to a media and boot my computer.

compression level is optional/irrelevant
