Windows Firewall Control 4.4.2.0

Microsoft Windows have already built-in default, free and powerful firewalls, but unfortunately, they lack a simple interface to define own simple rules and can be difficult sometimes to configure them the right way. Windows Firewall Control is a nifty little application which extends the functionality of the Windows Firewall and provides quick access to the most frequent options of Windows Firewall. It runs in the system tray and allows user to control the native firewall easily without having to waste time by navigating to the specific part of the firewall. Windows Firewall Control offers four filtering modes which can be switched with just a mouse click. WFC is free to use, registered users will get the advantage of learning mode which provides notifications for outgoing blocked connections.

Windows Firewall Control v.4.4.2.0 - New version

What's new:
- New: Search function was added to Connections Log similar to the one from Manage Rules.
- New: Introduced the concept of read only rules. They are displayed with grey text and cannot be modified or deleted from WFC.
- Fixed: Modifying inbound rules with edge traversal set to 'Defer to user' generates exceptions in Windows Firewall API. These kind of rules are read only and can't be modified from WFC.
- Fixed: Unwanted notifications may appear when defining generic rules that should apply to all programs.
- Fixed: Opening the Properties dialog of a rule fails with an exception for rules defined with a custom protocol which does not appear in WFC.
- Fixed: Notifications are displayed for svchost.exe when Medium notification is used if a rule for svchost.exe and remote port IPHTTPS is enabled.
- Fixed: When creating a new rule from the shell integration the direction and the enabled properties of the existing rules are not taken into consideration.
- Updated: The list of recognized Group names was updated to include new groups from Windows 10.

Depends wholly on the level of competency of the final User and his requirements.

For a very proficient Home User, COMODO is the most effective.

Kaspersky ships with the best firewall in a security suite.

For SysAdmins, WFC is kickass for deployment.

The ESS, is unsuitable for any of the above.
