I know that there used to be some trick to preactivate Windows 7 by creating a folder in the Win7.iso called $OEM$ but I can't remember the exact setup. Does anyone have a tutorial on how to create this?

Just put the folder inside the rar ($OEM$) into the sources folder of your windows 7 DVD using POWERISO. Other tools May corrupt the .ISO!

This will detect SLIC in your bios and install a certificate and a product key. If you do not have slic in your bios it will install a loader

zsmin 0.97 Loader

Vista: All editions except Enterprise

Windows 7: Starter, Home Basic, Home Premium, Professional, and Ultimate.

Check here for updated oem's and activation (requires slic 2.1 for win 7 in your bios to oem activate, if no slic in bios then add windows loader with this project to activate win 7)...
