I try to upgrade the motherboard BIOS (the model is the MSI GF615M-P33)

but when I go to flash and write the command(mode with automatic update does not exist since the model is very old) it gives me the following message:

"Flash part is not supported"

How can I fix it ?

Yeah..I have the right BIOS version. Live update doesn't help too much...

The question to ask here I feel, is why are you upgrading the bios, what additional feature(s) are you looking for ?

I never update my BIOS again, I have an Alienware Aurora R4 and don't want to screw up my PC....

Think twice before doing so because in the past I killed a laptop updating the BIOS..

For me, the best way to update a BIOS is through the BIOS update utility provided by the current one.

Sometimes you'll need to update twice in order to be sure it's completely updated.

In the POST messages from your BIOS you can start the BIOS update utility.

Luck!

I see a few things here you need clarify:

1. The latest version for your board is v2.9 (v2.9a) - you are trying to flash v2.6 (you can tell by the .260 -> A7597NMS.260

2. "Flash part not supported" means that you are most likely trying to flash from a DOS-Box under Windows or

the BIOS is actually older then the present one..

Make sure you create a bootable Floppy or USB - DONT use a DOS-Box under Windows.

You cannot Flash this BIOS from a Windows-Environment, because the board is too old.

Otherwise the LIVE-Update tool would've picked it up.

You have to boot from a Floppy or USB - formatted with old DOS - to the prompt.

Like back on Win3.1 when you had to actually type "win" to start - THAT's where you have to end up.

Safe-Mode (-> command-prompt) might work, but i'm not sure.

I had a looksy into the FlashTool and theres not even a "force" or "dump" command to get some more info.

Hirens BootCD has a DOS-Boot - that should work as well.

Did I see properly that your bios file is loaced in C partition?

If yes, then problem is that most of old bios updater won't work with NTFS.

Use USB pen drive FAT or FAT32 formated.

Of course you should not use windows command prompt or flash with lower version of bios (or at least read how to do that!).

Sometimes LiveUpdate won't work smootly on Winx64.

Before update I always do bios reset to default values to be sure that all settings has default values.

And after flash do one more reset to default.

If you are confused then detach HDD and boot with pen drive only.

But, if you are created dos using rufus then let us know what is source (ISO) for making bootable pen drive?

And you can always switch from C to pen drive if it use different drive letter (example: pen drive use F letter -> f:).

Hope this helps.

you can make a bootable pendrive in real dos mode with just a pendrive

you have to format as fat or fat32, then make it active using diskpart

make sure you have good DOS files source otherwise: http://files.extremeoverclocking.com/file.php?f=196 there are many there to play with

just extract all the files to the pendrive and then you have it

hope this helps,

Use MS-DOS.

If you want to clear content of CMOS then short pin 2 and 3 with jumper and leave it about 10 seconds i that position.

After that move jumper to initial position (short pins 1 and 2).

Then you have default settings loaded into CMOS.

Just to note: jumper should not be moved while computer is running.

First shutdown computer and remove power cord from plug just to be sure.
