metabeta
Hello folks, i have a wireless modem at my home, and i share that with my brothers.I want to restrict the usage of connection by them. Although i have no problem if they use it any-time, sometimes i don't want to be disturbed especially during night time cause that is when i download stuffs from net and also the bandwidth is fast at that time. What i want is, i want no one else to use the connection except me.Is there some software that restrict the usage of wireless connection or some methods. I would be glad if someone could redirect me to the post of some known software.Thank you.
Chancer
I think that will depend on your modem. Some of the more expensive ones allow you to control bandwidth.
player
what is your router model? you can enable WPA Encryption to secure your connection in your router settings page.others can't leech your connection unless they know your router's WPA password.#EDIT: I was wrong on MAC filtering. read this.heck i thought you were worried that your neighbor steal your traffic. player
DDWRT: QOS bandwidth prioritizing by device or service.if your router already come with a QoS Traffic Manager then it may not necessary to use this which requires firmware flashing

GRiM
Why not just login to your router via browser, I'm sure there will be some user/bandwidth management options in there.

x3r0
He's using a "wireless modem" - I doubt there will be embedded OS inside just like regular routers... Most of those "wireless modems" have very little configuration, because it's designed to be used on demand, not 24/7.
