tarekma7
Please ensure you installed Windows Media Player (version 11.0 or above). Go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features > Turn Windows features on or off. In the "Windows Features" window, find Media Features and then ensure that Windows Media Player is selected. Click OK to save your changes.

dcs18
Windows Media Player might be installed, but - possibly disabled from within your Windows Features panel. If so, you can try enabling it as illustrated below - please note, a reboot is called for before a disabled Windows Media Player can be effectively enabled:--

dcs18
@ rudraxBTW, why anyone want to employ such a bloated media player especially given the graphics-challenged hardware which you use - just curious?
rudrax
I have WMP enabled in windows features. When I play something in it, it plays without any problem. So WMP is fully functioning. But I don't know why Power director isn't able to detect.Power Director is video editor not media player.

rudrax
GPO is fine. I have all WMP related startup entries disabled via autoruns. Do you think, this could be the reason?
Now
Disable WMP, restart and then enable it again, restart...see if it works. If no, reinstall power director once again....
dcs18
Cyberlink products try borrow some native codecs from Microsoft Windows Media Player.Check out whether you have over-zealously disabled some codec/s at the Codec tab of Sysinternals Autoruns. Just disabled and deleted the startup entries of WMP from logon section.
dcs18
You may want to try this:--Kill all Cyberlink related processes via your favorite Task ManagerUninstall PowerDirector through Add or remove programsRebootDownload the official cleaner from http://download.cyberlink.com/ftpdload/cs/CLCleaner/CLCleaner-PowerDVD_13.zip (272 KB only.)UnZip the CLCleaner-PowerDVD_13.zip file and run the cleanerRebootNow, try reinstalling PowerDirector to check for the error (I would never install this crap on any of the systems I administer)If you were foolish enough to reinstall - rebootReport back - fingers crossed (toes too)
rudrax
I don't have Power director installed. I've problem in installing it. After I run the downloaded setup, the stated error pops up and installation exits unsuccessfully. Besides, I have no other products installed from cyberlink.
