This is bull squirt.

They ask for my phone number to verify for my google account.

They have my phone number, but, they dial 441732 when they should be dialling 4401732.

So I am royally screwed.

Aint knows what bullshit you step on,

They usually ask for verification when you're logging in from different IPs/devices & send text msg/voice verification codes to your number. Worse scenario is they force you to change password after verification

How did you know they dial the wrong number? Maybe they dont like your face

For those who don;t wanna give google your phone number - they most likely already have it. They know everything you put in your email communications and harvest all your personal info. LOL.

That's why Ive not used there services to sign in since 2011 . Privacy Policy changed February 29, 2012 Back then no one paid much mind to but some of us did.

Anyways I never gave my number out in my email even back then . The people I talk too already knew it . And if I dont know you well you will never get it . ;)

Can you add a + in front of 44?

It's done already.

Every time I edit my number and add zero it still dials 441732 xxx xxx

I found out why, supposed to enter a cell phone number, not got one so this is why I cannot verify.

No they don't know your telephone number unless you give it to them.

By entering you telephone number into your account, you have a safety net.

I'm wondering why nsaners gone mad with Google. We all knew about Google and its contoversial Privacy Policy, cookies and tracking methods. If so, why people are falling in Google's trap? We can easily move to alternatives.

Also, the topic says "Safer Internet Day" and that too with Google. Answer is Never! Never!! Never!!!

Never in Life!

The other thing is you people are providing contact numbers to verify with Google. That is like true Stupidity act. It is equal to giving the keys of your house/vehicle/locker and passwords to the theives.

Try to be wise Nsaners!

So tell me, if I give you my number, what will you do with it? Nothing, it has no value, it's imposible to gain control of it, so why so paranoia? For someone to get acces to your conversation or messages or even tracking you, they have to deal with the network providers, and if they are so desperately to do so, and get that acces, they don't even need your phone number, they can get it themselves.

Ps. In Europe is ilegall to track or listen to one mobile phone without his permission, and if that happens, those evidences are useless in court.

Nobody cares that you use ilegall softwares.
