insanedown58
I'm trying to move a laptop to Linux as per the user's request (of course -_- ). My problem is, the laptop which is a Sony VAIO Y (VPCYB15AG) just won't boot the Lubuntu installer. If I make it with Win32 Disk Imager or Unetbootin it just goes straight to Windows. If I make it with Universal USB Installer (Pendrive Linux) or LiLi, it gets stuck on SYSLINUX 4.07 EDD bla bla bla. There is no boot menu and the only way of actually getting a USB flash drive to boot is if you enable the Boot from External device in the BIOS. vissha
You can try installing Ubuntu first as the installation was successful. Once you install Ubuntu, if you want to change to Lubuntu, you can take a note of installed and supported drivers and s/w in ubuntu. Then install the Lubuntu.Successful installation details: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1779354Old Fix for touchpad/graphic driver issues in Ubuntu: http://askubuntu.com/questions/31232/ubuntu-on-amd-based-sony-vaio-vpcy-b15ag
insanedown58
Lubuntu 14.10 works when made with Win32 Disk Imager so the bug seems to only happen when I try to install Ubuntu 14.04 based distros. I'll try to see if Ubuntu 14.10 Unity works as well as Lubuntu did since the owner prefers Ubuntu.
