I agree with Kaspersky being good because it most off the time iit picks stuff up .. But as far as the other ones from seeing VT reports of some malware in the wild . It was scary of all the big name Anti-Virus not detecting it But the Free Ones like Avast and M$ did so I really dont put dependence in these test .

Like Whitehat Security said once the only thing these test prove is just that using and Anti-Virus/Anti-malware is not enough to protect you . Conman sense and a secure web browser is needed . If you click on email links from people you dont know or dont use and ad blocker chances are you may run into something one that's in the wild that your antivirus wont detect .

Kaspersky is on the top the test list alongside Bitdefender.

Bitdefender very slows down boot. Kaspersky is better.

Qihu 360 again high, good free Chinese software but very unstable.

Say if you used office and you clicked and email with this malware that was in the wild.

you most likely would got infected using BD , While using Qihu 360 or KS you would been protected . That why I dont trust these test. :P

eset has been consistently bad

Yeah In tests i've seen it falling but i did several malware testing on MalwareTips in which ESET generally blocked more Malwares compared to Kaspersky!

Thats also a reason which i shifted to ESET !!

I'm not saying Kaspersky IS BAD the point is ESET redily pushes its Virus database more often compared to kaspersky>> and that maybe the reason why ESET was able to block many threats that kaspersky left

Thats why from that very day i decided to use combination of programs

EAV+WFC(Best combination)[REALTIME]+ ADGUARD for Windows

Hitman PRO[On-Demand]

MBAM FREE [On-Demand]

SAS FRee[On-Demand]

That gives me a Total Protection

The reason I use ESET is because Avast has to many false positives its the lightest and kaspersky is to heavy to much bloat . Its just like what Kalju told me

In real life simply can not be so. Many things are possible in theory, but not in real life.

With test like these it can be proven by testing known malware , but in the wild in real life on your setup there not accurate, because most people dont run the same setup.

Kaspersky and

from the fee ones Qihoo-360.

Avira Free also is gud but Lots of false positives

Qihoo and avira are also heavy on SYStem..

Also i've observed Both Bitdefender and Avira engines r very HEAVY

Avira and Bitdefender missed that

Quihoo has been light on my system despite the fact

I enabled all Engines (e.g. Avira, Bitfender, and their own ones).

Avira Free is out the question, at lest with Avast Free you can exclude stuff , Avira Free is limitation ware it have no exclude at all you have to use premium version to get all features . And I tired it not long ago Its got to heavy like you say it use to be really light . I think it has different settings for false positives at lest premium version does . It was not as bad as it use to be about them.

The problem with most free ones they dont have many features . I never tired those Chinese antivirus before though. :D
