HP Stream Notebook 11"

I just received this little notebook and it is actually pretty quick for what it is. It came with Windows 8.1 with Bing. That is the name of the OS right from the system icon. I assume it is Core and has the Bing search by default. That's what makes it 8.1 with Bing from what I have read. The article also says Microsoft gives this away to the computer manufacturers to compete with chrome OS. Anyways my question is if I want to do a clean install and do not want to use their recovery crap option but want to use my MSDN copy of 8.1 can I use the serial from the BIOS to do a real clean install? I think this would be a core edition which the MSDN has. I talked to Hodgi from India and I could tell he had no idea what I was asking then he said I could do it but I don't trust his advise. Can anyone tell me if I can use my real copy and will it work? Thanks.

Tried Backup First your Windows Activation

Then my step is Backup / Copy All Neccessary Apps to eg: C:\nsane

Insert new Installtion Disk or FD to your NB Run Windows setup on Disk / FD

Windows will not delete your C:\nsane

Windows will upgrade / update C:\Windows, C:\Users\userName\*.*

I hope will work

No. Windows 8.1 with Bing and Windows Core editon are different SKU editions

Run CMD and type " slmgr.vbs /dlv " w/o quotes to see your SKU

WIndows 8.1 with update : SKU - Core

Windows 8.1 with Bing : SKU - CoreConnectedSingleLanguage

Seems that way. You're better off just removing whatever you don't need. HP don't stick a lot of useless crap on those machines anyway.

Yes, search for Windows 8.1 with Bing OEM.img iso to do your clean install (Go MDL forums)

Use OEM-DM Key Dumper to extract your OEM-DM key if you need to input them after install

AFAIK Jan 2015 / Dec 2014 Windows 8.1 with Bing iso yet to be leak but i might be wrong. Good luck!
