Free to win8.1 users, becoming subscription based, a new way of activation, these are all just speculation at present.

On Wednesday, January 21st, on Microsoft’s Redmond campus, they will talk about the next chapter of Windows 10.

Maybe we will know more then ?

Windows 10 Technical Preview has been available free download from Microsoft for some time now. The latest official build of Windows 10 TP is 9879. Microsoft is planning to release the next major build of Windows 10 in the last week of January 2015. Hopefully it will contain all the fixes and improvements that users have pointed out recently.

You can always go with Windows 10 on your testing computer or install Hyper-V in Windows 8/8.1 to install a virtualized version of Windows 10.

I was reading that there won't be MAK keys for Windows 10 clean install (I know about upgrade, but I was talking here about clean install).
