jalaffa
K-Lite Codec Pack is a collection of components needed for audio and video playback in DirectShow players such as Windows Media Player, Media Center, and Media Player Classic. It contains everything you need to play all common audio and video file formats. It also provides additional functionality such a thumbnail generation in Explorer. The pack has a very advanced installer which is highly flexible and has unique problem solving capabilities. Thanks to Adriano for the update.Download

Vjcobra
I had the same error with the MEGA version and had reported the issue to K-Lite admin, awaiting further advice. However, the update version worked fine.Got a reply from K-Lite admin, a system with Nvidia Optimus should do a fresh install of the codecs. It works ! davmil
After installing 10.9.0 'update' version, MPC is gone.
davmil
Turns out my problem was Avast - it was blocking MPC-HC was reasons unknown. I submitted it to Virus Total which rated it totally clean. Disabled Avast long enough to install - everything went normally. Re-enabled Avast, told it to scan MPC-HC.exe - no problem. Weird.

davmil
Had to disable Avast, Install MPC, then add MPC.exe to Avast exclude list. Checked mpc.exe with virustotal first to make sure and they said it was clean.
