AnyDVD 7.5.4.0

AnyDVD works in the background to automatically remove the copy protection of a DVD movie as soon as it's inserted into the drive, allowing you then to backup the movie using a DVD backup tool such as CloneDVD and CloneDVD mobile. You can also remove the RPC region code, thereby making the movie region free and viewable on any DVD player and with any DVD player software.

Not AnyDVD, because in order to backup a recent released blu-ray, anydvd always needs to connect online, which in my experience breaks Anydvd. I find Non USA DVDfab or MakeMKV works best for me.

Yeh, I fully understand the concept of "phoning home" with a lot of different software. But, AnyDVD is updated to reflect new copy prots. It's possible to allow it internet access. BUT... I thought the software updates [new versions, beta and final] of AnyDVD covered this anyway?

Not always, but frequently I find the latest copy protections are not included in the latest installer, hence the need for anydvd to call home before you can back up. And for me, AnyDVD breaks if I let it call home. Just my experience, but might not be the experience of others as far as breaking AnyDVD.

Of course, if it is allowed internet access, it will attempt to verify your license [or lack thereof]. I just thought that the beta and final software updates would cover the latest prots in the same manner as DVDFab [non-US].

My original question had to do with what software folks were using to do the actually copying, cloning, "shrinking", etc. DVDFab wraps all this together in one package and so is attractive in this respect. Some like a more modular approach [AnyDVD with ...].

I do use Anydvd with CloneDVD2 for regular discs. Rarely have any issues with this setup.

Thx! Considering how long is has been since CloneDVD2 has been updated, I'm guessing that it can't handle Blu-Ray?

I haven't used it for Blu-Ray, but there is a drop down box where you can select a custom setting and presumably custom set for 25 or 50Gb. So I would assume CloneDVD2 would burn a Blu-Ray disc. Why don't you just rip the disc to a portable hard drive instead? (assuming you can connect a portable hard drive to you home theatre system)

My question is why would someone post a link that requires a premium account to access?

There are several reasons, none of which are good.
