Windows battery meter stuck at 100%

My laptop battery meter in windows always shows 100 percent. Although battery works for around 2.5 hours, it shuts down without any warning and i am unable to know the time left. My OS is windows 8.1 64 bit.

I have tried to re-calibrating the battery by completely draining and uninstalling battery driver multiple times. Also, third party battery monitors don't work. Any help?

01.) Shut down your laptop
02.) Disconnect the Adapter
03.) Remove the battery completely out of the laptop
04.) Keep the Power button pressed down for 1 full minute
05.) Do not insert the battery back into the laptop
06.) Reconnect the Adapter
07.) Start the notebook
09.) Run DevMgmt.msc from an elevated Command Prompt
08.) Under Batteries, uninstall the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery
10.) Shut down the system
11.) Disconnect the Adapter
12.) Insert the battery
13.) Start your laptop and let Windows reinstall the driver
14.) Now, you may reconnect your adapter.

15.) Report back

That didn't work. Now, just time has appeared alongside. Here is a screen clip

This is pretty much the same as dcs18's instructions. It is all I would know how to do.

Re: Battery Indicator shows 100% charged at all times

First of all, shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter, remove the battery, and then hold down the Power button for 30 seconds.

Now, plug in the AC Adapter without the battery inserted, start the notebook, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager, expand the entry for Batteries, right click on and the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery and select Uninstall - do not uninstall anything else here. When the uninstall is complete, shut the notebook down, unplug the AC Adapter, re-insert the battery and then start the notebook on just the battery. Windows will automatically reinstall the driver - leave Windows running for a few minutes and see if the charge level decreases as it should.

Is your battery ok?

You can check how it works with some other systems.

Personaly I check in linux enviroment (live distribution of linux mint - small and very fast to boot) and if problems appear here too then you should consider other options for fixing battery, not software ones.
