Ballistic Gelatin
Whenever I attempt to uninstall Hotspot Shield (HSS) v3.42 on my Windows 7 (x64) system, it ends up breaking my wireless connection to my HP printer. I’ve used Your Uninstaller and Hotspot Shield’s native uninstaller, and both yield the same result: a broken wireless adapter. I’ve run the Windows Network Diagnostics tool (with administrator rights) and it detects several problems, but it is unable to make repairs.Running System Restore fixes the problem, but I want get rid of HSS.Has anyone else encountered this problem? If so, how did you fix it?Thanks for your help!
Ballistic Gelatin
Joe13, many thanks for taking time to illustrate your suggested solution.Unfortunately, it did not work in my case, and it had the same effect as if I had uninstalled HSS.So, after performing another System Restore, I have gone into Windows Services and disabled Hotspot Shield Monitoring Services, Hotspot Shield Service and Hotspot Shield Tray Service. I then went into Network Connections > Properties and unticked the box next to Hotspot Shield Routing Driver 6 (hssdrv6.sys) for each of my connections. These procedures have allowed my printer to maintain its wireless connection to my laptop. But HSS is still installed, though crippled. The main reason I wanted to uninstall HSS is that I have experienced BSODs (SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION) several times this year involving hssdrv6.sys.Appreciate your help! I tried manually removing it by deleting all of its files and folders without using the native uninstaller. That still broke my connectivity, so I had to do yet another System Restore, then go back and disable the drivers and Services associated with HSS.
