Karamjit
as per suggestions by my dear nsaners i switched from windows7 32bit to windows7 64bit. I then installed .NET 4.5.2. when i tried to update windows there were certain updates for .NET 4.5.2. but the question is why windows uses .NET 3.5.1 even we installed upgraded version i.e. .NET 4.5.2. there are certain updates for 3.5.1 also. can we uninstall this old .NEt (3.5.1) ? or the .NEt 3.5.1 is inseparable part of windows? anyone knows? rudrax
Some old apps are made to run on .NET 3.5 environment and so it's required even if you have the latest version of .net framework installed.

Rivenson
..you might need to install .net 4 even if you have .net 4.5.2.net 4.5.x fully replaces .net 4 ;)
Alanon
..you might need to install .net 4 even if you have .net 4.5.2.net 4.5.x fully replaces .net 4 ;)Hell, I have older programs made for .net 1.1 SP1, and I have to install it every time I reinstall the OS. But every time I try, the installer says it has all the necessary files, that .net 1 and 2 are a part of 3.5, and stops saying I don't need them - it replaces them! But the damn programs won't run without it. So much for compatibility. So I made a custom installation of 1 and 2 using a tutorial floating on the web. After installing, everything works. If you ask me, Microsoft should make a nice 300MB+ installer containing every version, updates from 1 to 4.5 included, and put it on their site. Everything else is just sloppy. Once they install, you should be fine.

CODYQX4
.NET 3.5.X is 2.X - 3.X (2.0, 3.0, 3.5)..NET 4 is totally new and .NET 4.5.2 holds all the older 4.X stuff. There's actually .NET 1.1 that also supports 1.0 but 1.X has been dead since Vista RTM so nothing uses it.
