I had been using microsoft as well as local account on my PC for quite long time. OS is windows 8.1

time and again there were issues with app store that i was unable to get to store and get some apps, honestly i never succeeded in fixing it.

Recently when trying to switch to microsoft account from local account, i noticed the following page just keeps on loading and never transfers to the next page, i.e. microsoft login account page.

Please find the attachment.

Recently while browsing by some forums about the issue, they asked me to export and delete the particular entry in the registry which i did, even after that my system is having the same problem.

the entry deleted by me directly from registry and not exported and deleted , as i could not get the sense of export and delete.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\IdentityStore\Cache\GlobalStore\IdentityCache\S-1-11

I have checked my mail account, it is getting loggied in through browser but mail app is not working. when i login there with the details, it asks for making sure the info about working account though the username password is alright.

The thing is absolutely clear - your windows is broken - files are damaged, and it is possible only improve if re-install Windows. Do not waste your time. So far, there has not been any other solution.

Don't use any another account. But if, then you can only use another registration code. This code only works with this account where it was first activated.

This is totally typical error.

There are other signs, but the first is that you can no longer use some of the Start Page Widget.

Kalju, you have assessed the problem correctly, many of the metro screen widget don't work (many of them i removed when they stopped working, mail used to work but stopped for some time, store shows 0x80070426 error)

But re-installing windows will need a re-work of installing all the applications and likewise yet again, well that's a cumbersome job

Any convenient method to save the applications and application data as well.

will my activation backup get restored later on or shall i re-do a fresh activation with a new serial key.

Any reply would be much appreciated.

You have to do reinstall, no other possibility exists.

If it was registered with genuine and working key, all your files will stay on their places, only you have to reinstall all programs. Your windows stay activated and most of settings also.

But you need to refresh windows. For this You may also need windows CD/DVD/USB, because some files in your pc from previous installation may be also damaged or missed. This CD/DVD/USB will repair this problem automatically. Don't worry, if it is a bit old, all files will also updated automatically.

You only need insert it and then go with mouse arrow into the bottom right corner, of the right menu opens, click on Settings, then click and select Change PC settings.

Then from left Recovery and then Refresh Your PC without affecting Your files => Get started.

Follow the instructions. Everything happens automatically. When the update is done, it may be that you only have a blue screen, then press any key.

If you are using USB, you will need to remove it in the meantime. You will be notified when.

When all this is over, I recommend you immediately remove the C:\Windows.old. I recommend to use CCleaner. If necessary, I'll explain later.

Once everything is removed (this can take quite a long time), and only then install the updates.

When the updates are installed, then re-install all the necessary programs.

Finally, in the future, do not use a local account, where internet access is available.

If you have any questions, please. Or PM me.

Good luck.

@Kalju, extremely thankful for your precious time and suggestion but all i dug is a mountain to unearth a rat.

the issue was the router was not allowing the request to be forwarded. i had to change the maximum transmission unit. It all happened accidentally as i was experiencing difficulty in browsing many websites through the router. Assuming it to be ISP level issue with DNS, i always used to switch onto Tor or CGHOST.

But when i tried fixing things today, i found all my issues went in a flash.

starting from switching to microsoft account to mail app, and even windows store is working miraculously flawless.

Got to learn a lot from you people. Grace be upon you all.

:)
