spinalgr1998
It is better to get one RAM 8GB or 2x4GB and operate in Dual Channel and Why?
rudrax
Running same amount of memory in parallel channels increases efficiency over a single slot with combined amount of memory of the parallel ports. I/O operations will be faster will dual channels.

dcs18
It is better to get one RAM 8GB or 2x4GB and operate in Dual Channel and Why?It is preferable to opt for a 8 GB RAM stick (for now) since this option brings to you the option of purchasing another 8 GB RAM stick (in future) and thereby also the option of dual channel (provided other hardware & software factors support 16 GB RAM.)However, if due to some xyz reason/s, you do not have plans to upgrade a potential 8 GB into a total of 16 GB (dual channel,) I would suggest sticking with 2 x 4 GB (dual channel.)Soon, you will find many folks flocking here singing about the futility of a total of 16 GB - personally, I have used a 32 GB setup on a Customers rig and boy . . . . . . . . . . . . . . I lust, for more. :wub:ATM, I run a total of 16 GB of RAM = 2 x 8 GB (dual channel.) The latest OS to come - thrive on RAM and make maximum use of it , unlike the OS of yesteryear. Administrator DKT27 Posted October 4, 2014 Administrator Share Posted October 4, 2014 Dual channel is preferable due to reasons mentioned above. However, if you want it for gaming or normal computer usage, it makes almost no difference in actual usage. The difference is not more than 5% when it comes to gaming and normal computer usage.See this for benchmark. Go to page 3 if you just want the benchmarks. It shows how dual channel and single channel should make no difference in performance to a normal computer user and even a gamer. Not just the benchmarks, as far as I know, this widely believed in the gaming community too.Still, if you can get them at same price, then dual channel is preferable. PTmax
From the various benchmarks and tests I've seen the past few years, it makes no real difference in real-world use.If you google your question you will find plenty of examples.
