fredlaso
Could get some help please? For years, I was running ESETSmart Security alongside with Emsisoft Antimalware with no problems. After I upgraded to ESET Smart Security 8, Emsisoft Antimalware can not connect to the internet, can not update definition files. I do understand I should not be running both together, but for years I had no problems with that I would like to keep it that way again. Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. (In Eset firewall settings it show all connection to emsisoft to web is allowed, yet does not work),I am sure that eset 8 blocks it, because when I uninstalled eset 8, emsisoft antimalware run properly. Then I installed Eset Smart Security 8 with do not detect unwanted software, Emsisoft stops connecting to the internet. Blackchildcx
OK...first of all I would use Emsisoft Emergency Kit for on demand scanning and keep the Eset as the main protection feature...believe me...In most cases U make the system unstable and create a huge bottleneck for nothing...Eset will protect U and on demand scanners are a great thing...I use them, too!!!If U realy want two realtime protection solutions...then MBAM---or SAS....they should work well with Eset..(But the realtime feature of both of them are so weak....No improvement to get!)Eset is smart in protection....let it do his job...;)my opinion :)
fredlaso
@Blackchildcx: Thanks for the info. Uninstalled Emsisoft Antimalware, then instaled Emsisoft Emergency Kit but the issue remains. It will not let me update signature files. Same as with emsisoft antimalware: Could not connect to the update server.Do you happen to know of a site where I can daily and manually keep updating signature files and apply those to Emsisoft Emergency Kit and/or Emsisoft Antimalware?I guess I can keep Emsisoft Antimalware and have it disabled with winpatrol pro untill I want to run a scan.Thank you. Kalju
If so, then there is no problem with these programs, but somewhere else.
fredlaso
@Kalju: it must be eset 8. because when I uninstalled it, emsisoft worked fine, updating signature files. Once I installed eset smart security 8 back, I am not able to get any signature updates for emsisoft antimalware real protection nor for Emsisoft Emergency Kit. I have never had these problems with any previuos versons of eset for many years.

iih1
try change your ESS private firewall to Auto mode, or change to interactive mode, after you know whether IPs of EMSiSoft, blocked / denny change to allow.(thick remember this setting). Thanks a lot. (I even left a post at Emsisoft forum and they did not know your fix).

fredlaso
@iih1: that is what I first believed. I disabled ESS Firewall / Protection. It did not help. Then I uninstalled ESS and Emsisoft worked fine. So that would leead me to a point to think that it must be ESS. After I installed ESS and folowed steven36 to exclude emsisoft in protocol filtering of ESET. all went back to normal. I am glad it works, I like to have an extra protection even if it is not advisable to run these 2 programs together. But as I mentioned before, I have been using them for years alongsite and never had any conficts or slowdown on my Pc.

steven36
There is a conflict between the two programs confirmed on both their forums and they're working on a solution.Over in NOD32 topic another member is having a conflict with protocol filtering of ESET and his browser and flash . But he had to turn protocol filtering off to get it to do right . I'm glad just excluding it worked for fredlaso . It seems to be a lot bugs with protocol filtering. iih1
Yep, rather bit difficult and complicated to manage between ESET ESS 8.0.301 ><EAM 9.0.4453Finally here my mate, ESS 8.301.0 EAM 9.0.4453Screenshot ENJOY
mona
I do understand I should not be running both together, but for years I had no problems with that I would like to keep it that way again. There is a general rule :if you want to run on the same computer 2 real time protection AV products - it's much safer to exclude each of them from that real time protection of the other one. Just to avoid possible disturbances. So it would be practical to set an excluding rule for your ESSET in EAM as well. Just in case. :P
fredlaso
@mona: Yes, it makes sense, since I was able to fix the protocol issues with Emsisofy on Eset, I disabled EAM with Winpatrol Plus from starting to load on boot as well as real time protection and will run i tonce a week for scanning the PC. Thanks a lot for the advise.

I do not know it as a fact, but if you disable ESS Firewall/Protection, it still is not completely disabled. I tried that option first. Only after I uninstalled Eset, Emsisoft worked fine. The reason I like ESS is that it can be tweked/configured for maximum protection easily and for over several years has never failed me. I do not work for Eset but have tried othe security procucts and had a hard time to change default configuration. I am sure it is just me being unable to get under the hood of config. other security suites, so I just stay with what I know how to configure. But thanks for your post and enjoy your weekend. Restart PC. -> http://s11.postimg.org/os9n8ucyr/eesfwdis.png -> http://s11.postimg.org/em5n3lhyb/eeships.png (same steps as i did on Eset Endpoint Security [EES])2.Go to Service.msc then properties (with Admin rights) I had to do disable all services of ESS -> http://s13.postimg.org/maabsm6av/service.png (If you can't did disable in Safemode), Now Your ESS really disable no more background activity. Then watch your EmsiSoft, If still not in normal, it's mean not ESET Block your EmsiSoft.RegardsPS: just remembered when i discuss with vyzzer on >>> //www.nsaneforums.com/topic/100828-eset-general-discussion/page-
fredlaso
Just got this e -mail from Emsisoft:Dear Customer, thank you for contacting the Emsisoft support. The problem is the new content filter in ESET blocks our software. Please take a look on this screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/syeVHGi.pngDisable the option "Enable application protocol content filtering" in ESET as displayed in the screenshot. Then the updates for Emsisoft Anti-Malware and Emsisoft Emergency Kit should work.If you have any more questions or problems, just let me know.Best regards,Christian PetersCustomer Support
