where 'x' is the drive letter where idm is writing the file and the same for the os drive (if both are not the same)

A similar thing happened to me except that all downloaded files were being corrupted including those not downloaded with idm. Just before this started to happen idm put a message on the screen asking if I wanted to learn about using hacked copies of idm and data corruption to which I clicked "no".

I then checked the idm site and they said that this is a problem with patched/hacked versions and could be usually corrected by paying for a licence and then re-installing. I have come to believe that this is a feature of the program that has been intentionally created to stop copyright infringement.

I ended up having to go back to a system snapshot of an earlier time. And then started using Free Download Manager which is almost as good as idm without the hassles.

chkdsk is a the safest way to fix problems with units.

those commands are aimed to check the disk logic (/f command) and surface (/r command) to fix any problems you could have because a logic error (mft tables missmatch/indexes/attributes/etc) or bad sectors.

you can have a problem with your partition table too or it can be that your hdd is going to fail (you should check the SMART attributes of your drive).

for the partition table i use ubcd/parted magic. it has a lot of utilities to repair your partitions. There are a bunch of applications for windows too, but you should install it and with so many 'unknowns' about your hdd the best option is to try the fix using a linux live distro.

good luck!

As a side note, it could be memory corruption... chechk your memory modules with memtest86+

What method are you using to register it? IDM implemented a corruption check in the software sometime ago , that if something is messing up it will give a popup to start over.

The only time I ever got the popup, was using poor download servers that didn't work very well . Back in the day before corruption check was implemented IDM would let you download corrupted data .

This issue is generally observed when the main executable is not original - the AntiVirus or other related security system locks down the download (unfortunately, this happens when the download status is at 99% - just prior to rebuilding the different download segments.)

The best way to find out whether the main executable is original, is to examine whether your copy of IDMan.exe possesses its digital signature - IDMan.exe generally resides at "C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Download Manager\IDMan.exe"

Check out the following screenshot for an example of the digital signature on my IDMan.exe:--

You are using a copy of IDM with an invalid digital signature which is being flagged by your security system (probably your AntiVirus - as mentioned in my previous post.)

Check out an example of a valid digital signature:--

Put the IDM folder inside the appdata directory in the exclusion list of your AV. Clear your system cache, restart and try downloading again.

Always use patches that are provided on the FP. Those are tested and safe to use. If you want a permanent activation without patching, you can check dcs18's sig for detailed instructions.

You can try to check whether the data corruption problem occurs, using the original IDM downloaded from the IDM website - without patching it.
