After reading the Microsoft Knowledge Base, I am convinced, now - there is gonna be an ISO release from Microsoft, sooner than later.

This error occurs when WMC is installed. Try to make the silent installation.
Somewhere was this mentioned previously. Or give up the WMC.

No WMC on my system - or, on any of those systems used by my Customers.

The probable reason for that issue on my particular system was already mentioned at post # 21 - it could be due to WMC, though (for others.)

Hey bro. I do not have WMC, however if you have WMC - feel free to try out Kalju's suggestion, by all means (suggest backing up your system, too.) F3h9xqz.gif

Very glad still using ( good old)Win7 !!

No problems at all, with monthly updates, just smooth and perfect!

This is how a good and thrustfull OS should behave!!

This is how a good and thrustfull OS should behave!!

Nothing trustful about any Windows - I am using Windows 7 Ultimate (SP1,) myself (lemme me know if you wanna see how often it fails Windows Update - or, even if you decide against using Windows Update.)

No problems installing that KB (without WMC) on a full loaded with crap system like mine...

And I suggest you to follow what november_ra1n points and what dcs18 said, a backup before doing anything.

Luck.

It's not what os you have, it's how it's fu*ing registry messes with all... one failure and your headaches begins... and so my work $$$$.

The problem arises from wrong order of installing updates.

2975719 is an optional update and supersedes three security/critical updates (2918614, 2976897, 2978668).

If you install 2975719 first, you actually have all updated files but because those three updates are critical, Windows Update keeps offering them.

So, you should install 2975719 after all critical & security updates otherwise it will fail.

The reason is very obvious, 4 updates have interference with each other and do not let WU to replace new files.

You should first install all updates except 2975719 and then after a successful installation, install the 2975719.

If WU did not offer 2975719, try to download and install manually.
