I was trying to instal Movie Maker from Windows Live Essentials 2012 in my notebook running windows 8.1 x64 and I was able to successfully instal that. But after installation, when I try to launch the Movie Maker, it shows the following error pop up:

I have,

  •
  • i3-350m 2.26 Ghz
  •
  • 3GB RAM
  •
  • AMD HD 5145 GPU with 512 MB of vRAM (DX 10.1)
  •

What else do I need?

01.) Download the latest Intel drivers from the FrontPage, for your particular system.

02.) Extract the contents of the installer to a folder.

03.) Use Device manager to browse to the extracted folder to igdlh64.inf under Graphics.

04.) Reboot.

05.) Run Movie Maker and then report back.

Difficult for me to make out, from here - the 15.28 is for 2nd generation whereas the 15.33 is for 3rd and 4th generation Intel Core Processors.

It is more likely that your system might require the Media Accelerator Driver - but, as I mentioned, you would know better.

I think I should rather use Intel Driver Detection Utility. But that requires latest JAVA. So, I have to download that too.

And I have found something interesting that might help me regarding my AMD driver update. What do you think?

I use Movie Maker in a VM running 64bit Win 8.1.

The host PC runs the same.

Occasionally when I start Movie Maker I get that error. I simply close and open again and it works fine!
