If you have a ton of memory, which is common these days, and a recent version of Windows , then Windows is already going to use (or can be made to use) RAM for caching instead of the hard drive. Not to mention that modern hard drives have their own RAM caches as well

Adding anymore physical RAM to what windows already sets aside is next to useless...why? because youre stealing usable RAM to make a cache that will still only contain the most regularly used and frequently requested files...all of which Windows does out of the box, and within the RAM it already pinches. but if you want to throw away good usable RAM for no valid reason and on the back of bs claims from some 3rd party company, be my guest....

Life is easier if you know how a PC and OS works :)

All you will do by using 3rd party software (ignore their claims, because theyre bullshit 99% of the time) is increase the likelihood of losing or corrupting your data. And these idiots want to charge you for it....

Take for example, me, i run a squid server on the same PC im using right now....could i improve cache return speed with a ramdisk/cache...yes. but only in benchmarks and not in a real world noticeable way

Do i want to lose the data consistency in my cache if the power goes down, and have to rebuild it every x days?...No

Would i notice any real speed difference in cache returns in REAL WORLD TERMS if it were on ramdisk/cache?...No, maybe in benchmarks, but in real world terms,No

Do i keep my browser/temp file cache in ramdisk/cache on any other PC's i own, No...The OS likes it when data isnt corrupted and is consistent

Dont be silly....as i always say, if you want to speed up your PC, theres only the following you can do:

1) Add more RAM

2) Buy a faster CPU

3) Defrag your hard drive - MyDefrag is my choice with Jaspion scripts added

4) If you have done those three, and only then, Install an SSD drive (although i still argue theyre not as reliable as mechanical drives...yet) - i dont own one and wont until theyre far more reliable. I routinely have to replace them for customers and give them the bad news that yes there data is gone "Do you keep backups?".... "No?, well yes, its REALLY gone". i have a WD 2Tb drive that blew its power regulator and caught on fire (had a power surge and suddenly 3 inch flames inside the case) 4 years ago, and to this day it works 100%...charred PCB but working...meanwhile ive lost count of how many SSD drives ive seen die within 6 months of being purchased.....

Do not buy an SSD just because "theyre faster", and store any data you care about on it. I wouldnt even use one as an OS drive.

You dont need 3rd party tools which are 99% snake oil anyways, no bit of software apart from a disk defragmenter will make anything quicker....dont you think Window would already include the "technology" these snake oilers are pedalling if it worked. Its not brain surgery people.....
