TheEmpathicEar
If I want to batch process a large part or even all of my MP3 collection, what's the best tool out there?

I just started using Foobar. Again, I'm not sure that it allows you to batch tag either?
dcs18
I have been using Tag&Rename, but I am not sure if it allows you batch tag?Oh yes, it does - I am yet to come across a renaming program (for song files) that can come anywhere close to Tag&Rename. andy2004
Been using Mp3tag for 3 years, done over 10,000 songs with it. a lot quicker than going through each track one by one.

Osi
+1 for mp3Tag, maybe not as powerful as Tag&Rename, but i find it much easier. If you wanna batch, just add files (songs) you want to edit, then select them all and edit your tags (usefull when songs from an album don't display same album name or artist). You can rename the files after editing tags:Select the files, right clic, convert, tag - filename. This will pop up a little windows where you can specify how you want it to be done. For exemple, i use: %artist%\%album%\$num(%track%,2).%title%Let's say the song you want to edit is "Post Blue from album Meds, Placebo."This will create a folder named Placebo, in which there will be another folder called Meds, then your song will be renamed "06.Post Blue.mp3"So, in the end you will get something likeMusic\Albums\Placebo\Meds\06.Post Blue.mp3I find this usefull when you have many albums, but you need to edit tags the right way, but mp3tag can edit and adapt to suits every one needs. Wazzbler
Hi all,I haven't posted much for a while, but for my two cents worth here goes. Two completely free programmes that do the job better than anything else I have tried (bought, Trial Versions or otherwise) MUSICBRAINZ PICARD (with plugins) and MUSICBEE does everything far better IMHO!NOTE I am not associated with or have any benefit from these software programmes - just giving my personal endorsement from my experience and success!I bought a demo model media player (because the store didn't have any other stock) and when I got home found it had three Terabytes of music and movies on it. Amongst this lot was about 30 000 different music songs in a complete mess. Some were in folders, other not and most had ZERO tags. After scouring around a bit, I eventually got to use a FREEWARE programme called MusicBrainz Picard. I used it with the LastFM Plus plugin and ran it. All I can say is WOW! It sorts the music into "cluster" or albums, looks up the tags and afer a few hours I had all my music sorted by Artist, Album, and very well tagged including Genre, Grouping and a few other nice effects. It can tag your music in place, or you can choose to have the programme MOVE the songs into the folders as I described above. What a brilliant piece of software. Once this was done, I use another FREEWARE programme called MusicBee to really tidy things up and get my collection into shape. .If you decide to use Picard, I suggest making a copy of some music and doing a few files first until you work out exactly what to do and how to do it.A few tips:Don't try to do more than 3000 songs at a time, as it tends to crash.Go to the site and find the links to the newer version of fpcalc.exe and replace the one in MusicBranz folder to avoid the error of fpcalc.exe has stopped working. If you need any help, tips or anything on this great software, just ask me. TheEmpathicEar
So, https://musicbrainz.org/doc/MusicBrainz_Picard, can do a batch process of your entire music collection? I am considering attempting to "normalize" my collection. i.e. Add more consistency to the tags and possibly the underlying folder/file hierarchy?
