Chancer
My better half has an ebook reader, a SonyShe regularly buys book for it online, often from kobo but has bought elsewhere. The books she buys are DRM protected.Recently the software that came with her ebook reader (Sony) updated. Then the PC crashed! Now the books she bought previously won't open saying DRM protected. She has bought a couple of new books and they open OK.It seems to be an issue with her Adobe DRM account. If I manage to get back to where we were then she won't be able to open her new books! Can anybody point me in the direction of removing the DRM from her old books so she can still access them? Groovester
Hi Chancer,Do you use Calibre to manage your ebook database? If you don't, you might give it a try. It allows plugins for removing DRM from ebooks. You just enter your credentials for the store where you bought your DRM-protected books (iTunes, Amazon, Barnes&Noble, etc.) and it will apply the encryption key and then save your books to disc. Note that the plugins are generally specific to the source/filetype of the ebook (e.g. epub, mobi, azw) so you will need to search online for appropriate plugin. For step by step, here's a tutorial that can be used for whatever plugin you find.http://apprenticealf.wordpress.com/2012/09/10/calibre-plugins-the-simplest-option-for-removing-most-ebook-drm/Hope this helps and good luck! - Groovester
