TheEmpathicEar
[i had a Zune device and it was either lost or stolen. I have all my music on a drive - not my system drive, in "My Music". I installed iTunes and am disappointed with it. It does not seem to allow me to do the above.I have heard that foobar can sync a music collection to an iPod. Can someone get me started with this? I just want to sync/transfer all my music, MP3s only, to my iPod. I would use Windows Media Player. But, I understand that getting WMP to sync to an iPod is not straight forward?EDIT: I guess I'm asking if someone here is experienced with both iPod and Foobar?jEDIT2: This is a repeat post from the previous foobar thread. jalaffa
@TheEmpathicEar Development of it has stopped, but that is the latest version. Maybe the http://mobile.foobar2000.com/ will come to your rescue? They have started it even though goal has not been reached yet.

And, i thought you were referencing - http://yuo.be/ipod.php - which stopped development sometime in 2012?One specific question: Do you need either of these solutions in order for foobar [or other software] to be able to access iPod and sync music to it? i.e. My understanding of WMP is that a plugin is needed for it to be able to use iPod? [A plugin that costs $$] Edited July 16, 2014 by TheEmpathicEar

The Zune software and Windows Media Player allow this AND they both detect/find all music there and display it. And, it is then ready to be synced. All I do is add/delete/edit music in this folder and it is updated in those software. iTunes, for example, DOES NOT work this way.@wiz4rdDoes Foobar allow you to do what I described?EDIT: And, of course, the software needs to be able to access and sync music to an iPod. But as I said, I've only used it for music player (not sure about sync function). For Mediamonkey, I've used it as my media manager for years too. Organise, rename, edit tag, rebuild database and sync to my ipod nano without any issues.Consider which one is suitable for you. Hope this helps
TheEmpathicEar
I have installed Foobar for the first time. I set Media Library>Music Folders>"D:\iPod\My Music" (Status == Monitoring) This contains all of my music [MP3s] in a hierarchy: i.e. One folder each for each artist, sub-folders for each album, and the MP3s contained in each sub-folder.I expected to see all my music in the main window? But, nothing is displayed there? If I go to Library>Album List, I can see all of the music [but no album art, etc.].
