I should've mention that I hate Hotmail. It was great in the past but not anymore. I want it to be free and online. No 3rd party app downloads.

Those are all free and of course - online.

Not sure what you mean by "No 3rd party app downloads."

There is also the new outlook.com - however, none of these alternatives have the range of features that Gmail has.

Personally, I prefer to use the most sophisticated e-mail client instead of an e-mail service - combined with the most sophisticated, standalone anti-SPAM. :showoff:

mail.yandex.com

Has a nice webmail lite too, and supports IMAP.

(GMX is good too, but kind of a PITA if you use their webmail IMO.)

Yahoo is OK . I like the layout better than Gmail which I use for JUNK stuff. Use Thunderbird and a Hotmail account. No advertisements that way. But 3rd party software is required.??????????

I moved to Yandex, this is awesome. Exactly what I was looking for: Great GUI, simple yet effective (aka hassle free).

Eww Yahoo...

Elaborate, please.

Allow me to elaborate

Yahoo is the most insecure compromised email service around

I have lost count of the people i know who have used it and from whom i eventually get unsolicited mail from their account....i email them to let them know to change their password, or better still, change to a secure email service because Yahoo is a known POS....of course most ignore this advice until i email them a month or so later and say the EXACT same thing. Usually by the third time their account has been compromised they usually get it......

Anyone using Yahoo needs their head read......

Funny that I've used Yahoo mail for 14 years and have not had that happen a single time.

Have got a total of 87 accounts (Gmail + Yahoo!) - however, I access them only via my e-mail client despite having configured them to a perfection (especially Gmail which has a terrible privacy implementation.)
