Army-Spy
Updating error issue is commonly fixed by one of two things:1- Adding the following Malwarebytes update URL to any type web filter, ad blocking, identity theft protection, 'trusted sites'(in the security software, not in IE) options or similar to your firewall:data-cdn.mbamupdates.com2- Adding the following Malwarebytes files listed in the link below to your currently installed antivirus\antispyware software exclusion lists or white listing options. (Section H-ignore AVG if you don't use it)http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=10138&view=findpost&p=167851

unknownasphyxiated
have you try accessing the link provided by @Army-Spy ?data-cdn.mbamupdates.comif it's say, "Forbidden, You don't have permission to access / on this server." , then there nothing virus-like blocking mbammight need to check mbam update setting for proxyor you can use mbam-clean to uninstall mbam then reinstall before you change to avast
funkyy
I had this problem too when I first installed MBM 2...couldn't figure it out at first then I discovered that it was a conflict with another program. I resolved the problem by uninstalling that program and MBAM immediately worked fine..now I'm trying to remember which program I uninstalled.. If you want better protection - go for BD or Kaspersky . Eset is close to them , but on some come PC-s is lower on resources .
