Updating error issue is commonly fixed by one of two things:

1- Adding the following Malwarebytes update URL to any type web filter, ad blocking, identity theft protection, 'trusted sites'(in the security software, not in IE) options or similar to your firewall:

data-cdn.mbamupdates.com

2- Adding the following Malwarebytes files listed in the link below to your currently installed antivirus\antispyware software exclusion lists or white listing options. (Section H-ignore AVG if you don't use it)

Did you cross-check the MBAM rules in your firewall?

using BitDefender AV Plus (1 year key provided by ISP) and using Windows Firewall.

OS is Windows 8.1 Update 1, fully update.

did change the key for MBAM with re-install, no luck...

tried manual database file update, no luck....

my girlfriend's laptop did update fine last night (quick test)

i'll trie some of the above solutios to see if works during lunch break :showoff:

thanks for the help B)

This problem has occurred also before, don't work in conjunction with BitDefender.
But one more thing - check out your proxy and/or VPN settings.

When I see someones computer that wont update mbam or other av-spyware type scanners... its usually loaded with pup's and maybe a virus or two. Somebodys smart enough to block it - it seems.

try change scheduler to "realtime" or every 5 minutes to update database then restart

BitDefender system scans (3 HDD, 3 x 320GB + 1 x 500GB) came up clean before MBAM stopped auto-updating....

manual updates (goingo to GUI ou right click on icon near clock don't update :\ ) but MBAM is set to hourly updates..

It as been working fine With BitDefender for a week on Windows 8.1 Up1 and on a Win7 x86 (both windows on laptops) for 2\3 weeks (girlfriend)...

if checking the settings don't do the trick, will revert back to Avast! IS (still got about 600 days of a legit referral key  )

unknownasphyxiated

have you try accessing the link provided by @Army-Spy ?

data-cdn.mbamupdates.com

if it's say, "Forbidden, You don't have permission to access / on this server." , then there nothing virus-like blocking mbam

might need to check mbam update setting for proxy

or you can use mbam-clean to uninstall mbam then reinstall before you change to avast

I had this problem too when I first installed MBM 2...couldn't figure it out at first then I discovered that it was a conflict with another program. I resolved the problem by uninstalling that program and MBAM immediately worked fine..now I'm trying to remember which program I uninstalled..

Happend to me before. Go direct to their Home Site. Open MBAM now try Direct Up-Date thru MBAM itself.

There is no real problem related Bitdefender and Malwarebytes - the problem is in your PC .

I use the latest Bitdefender (18.12.0.954) and Malwarebytes (2.0.1012) on one PC without EVER having any problem / conflict between them .

... and excuse me , but moving from Bitdefender to avast was not a smart choice ... if you insist to change BD , choose Kaspersky , or nod32 B)

Bitdefender or Eset are much better choices for AV - so , you should switch to one of these .

Kaspersky also made a big improvement in resource management of it`s products , so you could consider Kaspersky Internet Security 2015 .

If you want better protection - go for BD or Kaspersky . Eset is close to them , but on some come PC-s is lower on resources . B)
