You see in the image above, the default contents preview facility of windows is making my customizations look ugly.

Does anyone know how to disable it?

Navigate to Folder Options -> View Tab -> Tick Always Show icons, never thumbnails.

I knew this. But the problem is, this also disables the picture and video file's thumbnails which I need. Please tell me if you find anything that only disables thumbnails for folder not for files.

Thank you!

Both Folder And File Thumbnail Are Hardlocked To Each Other.

But You Can Try This : Right Click The Folder(Whose Thumbnail You Want To Hide) > Go To Properties > Go To Customize Tab > Go To Folder Icons > Change Folder Icon > There Browse For The Icon Of Your Choice( You Can Even Use The Ones As In The 'downloads & portable' Folders In The Image Above).

Hectic But Should Work While Retaining The Thumbnails Of Files Intact.

You can try the following GPO:--

User Configuration >> Administrative Templates >> Windows Components >> File Explorer >> (enable) Turn off the display of thumbnails and only display icons on network folders

I have applied the folder icon for all 'folder (opened)' and 'folder (closed)' with the help of 'windows 8 manager'. But the folders containing contents inside, show the old folders with preview.

The method you specified, does the work but when you click 'refresh', the old folder preview is shown for a fraction of a second.

This is an entirely different tweak - has got nothing to do with the issue, in question.

I know it is. That tweak changes the icons of the closed/opened folders to user specified one. But doesn't do that for the folders with previewable contents inside. Just searching for it.

You keep resting your phat a$$

You may require a system restart. And before you restart, clean your system cache (junk files and registry)

I know it is.

As far as I know . . . . . . . . . . it does not - but then, maybe all the stifled farts are finally leaking into your miniscule brain.

Have not tested it, personally as it is a very retarded idea to disable thumbnails AFAIC - however, you might try refreshing your icons.

No, this is entirely wrong. The only person who doesn't need help is dcs18. We creep, you fly. So, don't dare thinking that we don't need your help.

That's not entirely true. dcs18 is very wise guys and so it's completely normal that some small things keeps hiding from his sight in the ocean of his knowledge.
