rudrax
You see in the image above, the default contents preview facility of windows is making my customizations look ugly.Does anyone know how to disable it?
rkkdjb
Navigate to Folder Options -> View Tab -> Tick Always Show icons, never thumbnails. Edited June 27, 2014 by Taker
rudrax
I knew this. But the problem is, this also disables the picture and video file's thumbnails which I need. Please tell me if you find anything that only disables thumbnails for folder not for files.Thank you!
rkkdjb
Both Folder And File Thumbnail Are Hardlocked To Each Other. But You Can Try This : Right Click The Folder(Whose Thumbnail You Want To Hide) > Go To Properties > Go To Customize Tab > Go To Folder Icons > Change Folder Icon > There Browse For The Icon Of Your Choice( You Can Even Use The Ones As In The 'downloads & portable' Folders In The Image Above).Hectic But Should Work While Retaining The Thumbnails Of Files Intact. dcs18
You can try the following GPO:--User Configuration >> Administrative Templates >> Windows Components >> File Explorer >> (enable) Turn off the display of thumbnails and only display icons on network folders
rudrax
I have applied the folder icon for all 'folder (opened)' and 'folder (closed)' with the help of 'windows 8 manager'. But the folders containing contents inside, show the old folders with preview. The method you specified, does the work but when you click 'refresh', the old folder preview is shown for a fraction of a second. rudrax
I know it is. That tweak changes the icons of the closed/opened folders to user specified one. But doesn't do that for the folders with previewable contents inside. Just searching for it.You keep resting your phat a$$
