jalaffa
HashTab is a freeware OS extension that calculates file hashes. HashTab supports many hash algorithms such as MD5, SHA1, SHA2, RipeMD, HAVAL and Whirlpool (you can customize which hash values HashTab should compute). Hashtab is supported as a Windows shell extension and a Mac Finder plugin. When you right click and select properties you'll see a File Hashes tab in the properties window. When you click on the File Hashes tab HashTab will start to compute the file's hash values. You can then open the source file or just paste in the value of the original and HashTab will compare them. Thanks to HALiD for the update.Download

Fallon
For comparing two files, I like this one better now than when I looked into this stuff before. The Nsane effect, or File Properties is a good place to start for some shell extensions. :)Other File verification hash tools:HashMyFiles by NirSoft (good if you want a tool like this in the right-click context menu. Unlike HashTab, it works fast on folders. This makes HashMyfiles best in my view.)http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/hash_my_files.htmlMd5Summer (the one for checking lists of files)http://www.md5summer.org/ <Homehttp://www.md5summer.org/md5v12011.zip <Direct DLOr Md5Summer with an updated icon:https://735636cb-a-62cb3a1a-s-sites.googlegroups.com/site/fallonstuff/videos/md5summer1.2.0.11%5Bnew-icon%5D.rar?attachauth=ANoY7cqxXaQwsxJnaRVhS1RcmfHo9XmFR1BPzbiStiehkOR9Hhwcqv6Sdjb07wC7P-K8Dx5l2Wt4lU1CLXp79YsjSTvewppPceyViCjEaEm9T4Ffj0ZkdmEAqVp-29sReSLc5jPifuwqFPrjkDahjXF-4urtiiYorb1fxm9YBcOgt5Io6JsYE6O1VdKA7nj1V_PiJ9dhp3tAdeiGQBSY-QpnAccmTbChICWSUk5xGqlZ_v-LuZrzriOW-9nqeWM4maMym9bbCl_1&attredirects=0&d=1 Edited June 28, 2014 by Fallon

Fallon
having installed this, everytime i right click, explorer crashes on Win7 x64...previous version worked without a hitch...No problems here with Win7 x64 and this version.Installed the commercial version. No registration dialog or it is hidden. 24 hash options in both versions. There is not much to it, it seems. Only some bytes difference in file size.
