How to be secure enough to use Online Banking? I hate antivirus apps because those basically transforms your computer back to stoneage.

Bitdefender: Slows down internet too much

Eset: Stoneage warning

Avast: Poor reputation

Norton: Really...

F-Secure: Too many bad memories

Emsisoft: Another stoneage warning + extremely difficult to configure

Kaspersky: Not enough free licenses + slows down internet + time to time weird things happening

Mse: Poor reputation

I'm not sure if Sandboxie keeps me and my money safe. I don't visit warez sites at all (except kickass where I check the latest movies and series).

Use something lightweight that stays out of your way, like MSE or Avast, make sure your browser and OS are receiving regular/automatic security updates, and practice safe browsing habits.

MSE does not protect your computer, sad but true. Avast has poor reputation. I don't trust Avast anymore.

Scan your PC with one or the others AV, trial version are enough. Once you are sure you got nothing harmful on your PC, then you don't have to worry about online banking. Just be sure the sites are secure and use HTTPS.

Malwares won't come in by magic, so the firewall part is the most important one. What you really need is a well configured one (only accept Internet access for the program you know safe), the Windows' is enough. You can test your firewall configuration with ShieldsUp: https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2

Then, only your mistakes can bring malwares, but if you are sure of your actions you don't need an AV at all.

Personally I like Comodo IS because once it finish to build its cache it stops scanning over and over the same file already scanned and flagged safe on access, so it stops slowing down your PC. If somebody knows an other AV doing the same, let me know. :)

You ask how to be secure enough to use online banking, and then go on to use the next paragraph to rubbish each of the most commonly used AV products available, and coincidentally 2 of which (Eset and Avast) are known to be used by most members of this forum (if youve spent more than 5 minutes here, you'd know this).

And then you go on to say you use kickass and torrent sites, which is where youre far more likely to find a nasty than on most "warez sites"

Your post is the equivalent of calling 911 for help, but saying you dont want the cops, firefighters or ambulance to come help you...

Me, i have used Avast/Eset & Comodo for years, and my bank account still has ALL my money in it, and my computer has had 0 infections.

So, since youre not using any of the above, why not post your IP address so we can "remotely assist" you into showing you the stupidity of your choice to not use any of the above............

KIS was the best option.

Have you tried Quihoo internet security 4.9?

PD: I was testing today Quihoo 360 total security and I was surprised about how good it detection rate was. And how light it was on system performance. It has Sandbox as well, you can run whatever you wand in it.
If you set its settings to max security it runs 4 engines including bitdefender and Avira. Plus another one for repair mechanics. It has a HIPS also, which is quite relaxed and simple, it won't pops up warnings until it is some unknown file is trying to keylogg your keystrokes, etc. Give it a try, and report back.

Wow man, I have to admint that was a good speech, laughed a bit about it cuz it feels like rage running through your words.

If most people use an av solution in particular, it doesn't really mean it is actually a good av.

I mean, if you gonna be one of those guys who go to google and then shut down the computer Avast will protect you flawless. But seriously, Avast has failed to detect a nasty amount of malware in the last couple of months. If for any reason you get infected with recent new malware, Avast will fail most of the time. I have cleaned a looooot of computers running Avast with tons of malware.

No need to relax, and no rage, just pointing out the illogical points by OP, like i said earlier, his post was like calling 911 but refusing to accept help from police, fire or ambulance, just ridiculous.

p.s. Since i have used Avast for eons and visit waaaay more websites than the average person, and i havent seen a single exploit on my PC in years, ill stay with Avast thanks. Its also on every PC i administer, thats 43 servers and several thousand clients...and zero issues, so yeah it does more than protect you for browing google.com...so ....... My management console and logs make your argument look even more silly.

As for cleaning, the worst offenders brought in to me are in this order: McAfee (no suprises there), Nortons ("but ive got Nortons", they say when i find a dozen or more virii or malwares) and then AVG....which has a proven track history of not only failing but also issuing updates that delete system files leaving your PC unbootable.

So yeah, Avast for me.

for online transaction don't use Avast vulnerable, and not have much experience for online security...eg Kaspersky,

i suggest you stay away from Avast, switch to KIS. finally the choices is yours. Just suggestion.

PS: for example Kaspersky product especially KIS it's hard to cracked..till now no valid fake key can be used just trial

for 30 and 90 days ..Avast i can make it till 2095..Life-time,

You have very easily discarded almost every security software available on the planet with just one or two excuses. The BEST suited "two solutions" are already given by @dcs18 and STEEL.

I think about any of the top rated AV's are as good as the other. But here's an additional part to the strategy if you happen to have some old hardware laying around. If you do have an old PC with legal Windows, reformat it with your Windows recovery disks and then never surf anywhere except straight to and from your financial institutions. End of story. Switch on, bank & pay bills, update the AV, then switch it off.

I know a lot of people don't have the luxury of an old PC/Laptop laying around for a dedicated role like this, but if you scratch around you may well be able to get one from a friend or relative or Goodwill or somewhere. Even if you had to buy one on eBay for $100 it would be worth it for the peace of mind. Remember, no surfing with this machine - that's important.

No Warez site can be assumed safe IMO and once you've visited one, you are suspect.

Try what i switched to from 5 years of ESET. Google 360 Safe, their Total Security is the flag ship FREE product. I also use thier 360 Browser and tested it. FF and Google Chrome got infected but 360 Browser (Chrome based) isn't

@The Aslan, may be it is time to upgrade your hardwares to take the load of an antivirus.

You have to have a real time AV protection and a well configuared firewall in order to use net banking facility. Besides, your common sense and the experience with web will help you.

If you get targeted by a pro hacker, there's no way you can be safe doing online banking. They can hack through bank's complex firewall systems. Do small transactions through net and for large transactions, visit bank.
