list disk

select disk 0 (where 0 is your hdd)

convert gpt

create partition primary

select partition 1

format fs=ntfs quick

assign (note active commad not available on GPT disk .. applicable to MBR disk only so you don't need to make the partition active)

That is why I want to install Win7 in "legacy bios mode" (non-UEFI) in a "MBR" partitioned disk. And besides, my hdd is just 1 TB. How about the settings in the m'board's (Asus Z87 Plus) "Boot Menu", do I just leave it to it's default values? Please specify changes if any. Thanks.

I have installed Windows 7 x64 with Service Pack1 on UEFI based motherboard (Rampage IV Black Edition) and I had to convert my SSD from MBR to GPT and there is not any problem at all. Just make sure you copy any important files to another hard drive because converting disk is going to wipe all your data. If you have SSD disk there is an option in BIOS "Safe Erase" and than start to install your Windows 7 and it will convert your disk to GPT. Just remember that DAZ Loader doesn't work on GPT hard drives. You can still activate your Windows with MAK key and skype on the phone.(Just look for that option on this forum-I did like that and after activation you can do backup of your liecence).

Good Luck ;)

Windows activation is not a problem 'cause I have a genuine copy OS and new 1TB hdd but what concerns me is the boot configurations in the UEFI m'board. Settings in the old legacy bios based board is preety simple and straightforward. This is my first UEFI board and I don't want to mess things up. Installation details on the board's manual is incomplete so I guess I'll do the best I can.
