vnoctober
Hi, everyone. I have some questions about Windows Embedded POSReady 2009. I hope people will help me answer them. :)- What's about Windows Embedded POSReady 2009? It looks like Windows XP SP3, doesn't it?- It is supported by Microsoft to 2019?- Where can I download it? Ragdd
You can use a "normal" Windows XP installation and with a register change you can Windows updates think you have a Windows XP POS Ready installation.Copy this in a txt file and rename it to .reg as extension.Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\WPA\PosReady]"Installed"=dword:00000001http://www.zdnet.com/registry-hack-enables-continued-updates-for-windows-xp-7000029851/

Holmes
Well the POSready two thousand nine is a different year its same as the systems that got compromised in target breach and I dont think people need to use this registry hack as a embedded os is not the same as somewhere theres going to be a incompatibility and for that I dont trust it. I mean just think about it when you go up to a atm machine and listen when getting money out you might hear default sound in windows xp and windows xp on a embedded device the image is smaller and setup is missing. Check this out it describes the differences between the two and probably lists the reasons why you need to ignore this registry hack this can explain better than I can and it gives you additional information:http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=5&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CD8QFjAE&url=http%3A%2F%2Fdownload.microsoft.com%2Fdownload%2F7%2F1%2F2%2F71252520-2bb9-43c3-891b-bc09bfdde152%2FDifferencesBetweenWindowsXPEmbeddedandWindowsXPProfessional.pdf&ei=CmeTU8evBJS1sATJioDgBQ&usg=AFQjCNHCixnwp1J16vX36ffGOg6tJLEInwYou need adobe acrobat reader to use file to download and use that is.. It looks like Windows XP SP3, doesn't it?Yes, but please do not use the registry hack to obtain updates - you could expose your OS to be nuked, by Microsoft.- It is supported by Microsoft to 2019?Check out the EOL for different Embedded releases:--- Where can I download it?http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=11196&751be11f-ede8-5a0c-058c-2ee190a24fa6=True&fa43d42b-25b5-4a42-fe9b-1634f450f5ee=True
