When you get your bluescreen make a note of the exact error code. With this its much easier to find the cause of the problem. Its will say something like STOP: (followed by some numbers/ letters).

Edit: That said, what is your operating system? Have you got all windows and driver updates? Have you made any recent software or hardware changes?

@Lite, Windows XP SP3 I should have the latest updates.

Before making this thread I read about blue screens and from the information I learned I only managed to understand win32k.sys from the blue screen. You need me to write down the hex values ?

The only thing I can think of are my video card problem and me updating my motherboard's firmware (but no problems appeared directly after the update). No new hardware whatsoever.

@Sonar, would that make the blue screen last ? Thats not the problem because I disabled the option where the pc automatically restarts so I can look at the blue screen as long as I want.

Can we get any information from the event viewer in administrative tools ?

Try to take a photo of the screen and post it here, it might help you get further help.

those hex numbers can be used for troubleshooting, check this site for STOP messages.

Yup spot on. It will stop on the BSOD screen forever until you reboot manually reboot.

There's probably some prog out there that will Log your BSOD to a DIR but unsure which one (More advanced event viewer) - you could check out the event viewer to see if anything has been logged.

Edit:

XP and Vista

Click Start, and then click Control Panel. Click Performance and Maintenance, then click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Computer Management. Or, open the MMC containing the Event Viewer snap-in.

In the console tree, click Event Viewer.
