pr3y
Check if you have IMAP enabled on your gmail account. Its under "Settings/Forwarding and POP/IMAP" and select Enable IMAP.In thunderbird check if your settings are correct, it should be the following (taken directly from google support)Incoming Mail (IMAP) Server - Requires SSLimap.gmail.comPort: 993Requires SSL:YesOutgoing Mail (SMTP) Server - Requires TLSsmtp.gmail.comPort: 465 or 587Requires SSL: YesRequires authentication: YesOtherwise use the stable version Edited May 24, 2014 by pr3y

pr3y
How did you install and remove Earlybird? Was it manually or through from apt-get. What kind of error message do you get? In your root directory is there ~/.thunderbird directory? If so try removing it.
