I like Kaspersky, but run it only on one system. Eset -dare I say it- is still on the 'to do' list.

Besides these two, for me, Avast is still the winner.

Avast guys have been cutting back on the main mistake which will drive their users away: self promoting pop ups.

Avast free edition makes a nice combo with free Privatefirewall.

It is reasonable reliable and -with deepscreen disabled- doesn't alert for every fart, like some anti-malware does, notably StopZilla.

Having said that, I do think it's necessary to run Anti Malware sometimes, for sure when a problem occurs.

The usual suspects will do: 'Malwarebytes Anti-Malware', EnigmaSystems SpyHunter, and -with caution- 'AdwCleaner'.

Norton Internet Security

Malwarebytes

Pest Patrol Corporate 4.4.4.4

NIS being the main one (and its a legal version) but the other two programs do thing's the others don't or do it better and running all three is not a problem with a decent machine

Avira free version is enough.

I was using Webroot but after a format I couldn't bothered activating it, I thought I'd give Avira a try. And before that I was using MSE. The only time I need a AV is for scanning potentially suspicious files. My brain is a good enough AV. I don't require some big security suite.

What's with the Avast fans? It's irritating and the detection rate is low-ish.

If you're using a free AV just use Avira edit: or Bitdefender:

I use G DATA TotalProtection cause of germans hard privacy laws and of patriot act..... :showoff:

And here no backdoors in our software...

I drive german car, so why not use german AV?...(Im just kidding)

Ah....even Natalia Kaspersky knows whats good....

use google translate ...

Natalya Kaspersky claims start with G DATA

By Kai Figge I was offered me to participate in G Data. I've been watching the company for many years. Because of the excellent products and their high safety standards, the company is internationally successful. Over the years, G Data has further expanded its technologies. I am impressed by the high number of international awards that could win the G Data security solutions. Despite the changes in the IT world, the quality and recognition performance of IT security solutions still has the highest priority.
As a board member I will continue to spread the excellent reputation of G Data around the globe and the company are with my knowledge and experience in the IT industry to the side. "

Last time I tried Avira, it came up with update ads.

Bitdefender free version scores some false positives according to the chart you provide.

It's relatively new. Thanks for pointing to it.

For people interested in webroot, free Panda is another cloud based candidate.

I prefer Bit defender, alongside with Microsoft's own Security Essentials aka Windows Defender :p

nowadays we can't rely just on the AV test report eg Softpedia..

we should try it and ask help to several forum related with this purposes.

no virus guards can do everything, besides AV we need Antimalware. nor spyware

beware..some of apps eg Spark Browser it's will auto update without permission

no notice message as other browser else .."Update availlable update now or later"

this my experience and knowledge ..please don't mind, if annoying you simply leave it. :D

Do you guys even look at these when you make your decision on which AV to use? A lot of you underestimate bitdefender.

Yeah, I wasn't ware that Bitdefender doesn't nag at the time of posting as I didn't visit their web page. I have it installed now. Even though Avira's nagging didn't bother me since it is of course free after all.
