Why I hate comodo firewall

don2

Recommended Posts

It interrupts install of new program each and every step.

What i mean is if i started to install a program, comodo firewall starts warnings blah blah blah till the end of the program installation which doesn't allow clean installation of the program which is very irritating, annoying, struck the os here and there.

What's your opinion :like or hate comodo firewall?

I use Comodo Firewall and like it. It allows me to determine what programs can access the net, and blocks unwanted incoming access.

While executing the install you need to designate the setup file (in the prompt at COMODO HIPS) as an allowed installer.

for noob, you'd better go for Private Firewall or OA. Less intrusive and annoying pop-ups. As Sonar suggest, turn HIPS OFF.

Very effective..but you must do learn to setting commodo..otherwise you'll hate commodo FW rigth?

I do like the COMODO standalone firewall - however, the reason for it's astounding success has never been the firewall component (it's actually the HIPS module that's the hallmark of COMODO.) 8)

which one would you like to use ? Firewall only or Firewall+HIPS ?

I do believe, you hate HIPS module than firewall part since it warns you every single setup/install or new process you are running.

Can't remember of even one single software that comes optimally configured out-of-the-box, it all boils down to the extent of one's capability to configure these programs. :(

Guess then, that is the first divide between the n00b and the accomplished. ^_^

Imo there's not any need for anything outside of the Windows 7/8 built in Firewall. Just use a frontend for it like Windows Firewall Control and you're all set. It will ask for in/out connections just like Comodo, ZoneAlarm, etc.

You can disable the popups from the general settings.

Q360IS (max security settings) + CF (Advanced mode, turn off D+, sandbox fully virtualised, firewall - custom ruleset - this settings allow me anything that trys to connects to the internet to ask permission, general settings > user interface > show messages from comodo message center - to disable all ads by Comodo

There you have it. Excellent protection + no pop up unless a program tries to connect to the internet/suspiciuos program (quite rare for the 2nd popup)

The firewall and its HIPS component make for a very good layer of security....Of course I read through the comodo guide, I asked questions about things I hadn't grasped on Wilders (not the comodo fanboy forum, they shoot you down with terms like 'noob') people forget the were 'noob's' themselves at one point and most of all, the best learning curve after those I mentioned is trial and error.
