J.D
I found PureFix v2.03 was good medicine for this - need to read the small txt file first .(Upgraded from v4.x to 7.x) :DI'm curious. Has anyone else use this on this latest version of ESET?I don't know how it works but Purefix v2.03 certainly does work .PureFix v2.02 is in M.A.G post herehttp://www.nsaneforums.com/topic/219408-eset-nod32-antivirus-703174/?p=788958
dcs18
I'm curious. Has anyone else use this on this latest version of ESET?We stopped using this fix after it's creator PurplebeanZ stopped development - I am pleasantly surprised that it worked. :dunno:It is similar to the box, mara- fix (which was also coded in collaboration with PurplebeanZ.)The reason I asked is because the "Instructions.txt" don't mention v7.x - only v5.x and 6.xYep, mara- has not updated the instructions - can vouch though that ATM, it is the best Trial Reset (have personally tested it on two builds of the V7 - EAV, though.) TheEmpathicEar
:( I just rebooted into "Safe Mode" on my Windows 7 desktop PC. I tried to run "ESET PureFix v2.03.exe". The error message is "...is not a valid WIn32 application". [i was trying to test to see if I needed to disable it before uninstalling ESET, but am not sure if I used it for my current ESET installation][in any case]Could this be because the file has been corrupted somehow? I know that I have used this in the past and not had any trouble like this? Would it be worth while to download it again? And, where can I download v2.03?EDIT: I had the archive. Deleted what was extracted. And, extracted the archive again. Now, it works fine. I am not really sure what happened in the meantime. I know that it functioned at one point in time. :) Edited May 22, 2014 by TheEmpathicEar
TheEmpathicEar
[Windows 7 Ultimate x64 - Are there any issues with ESS and Purefix v2.03 on x64?]1. I did a careful uninstall of ESET Smart Security v6.x2. I rebooted into Safe Mode3. Started PureFix v2.034. Clicked Enable5. Rebooted6. ESS Message: "Analysis of application protocols will not function. An error occurred while starting services. Analysis of application protocols (HTTP, POP3, IMAP will not function"7. i.e. If seems as if something happened to the Firewall component. It's not there?Any ideas? I thought that Purefix v2.03 was supposed to work for this latest version of ESET?EDIT: I ran the installer again - in "Repair Mode". Everything seems fine now. And, ESS is still activated. Any ideas on what happened? The only thing I did [differently] was to reboot into Safe Mode w/o using PureFix to do it? Could this have made a difference? TheEmpathicEar
@AlienForce1I am grateful for your input. But, "dcs18" and "J.D" both claimed that it worked for them? And, my install of ESS is now activated and working [after the repair]. Edited May 23, 2014 by TheEmpathicEar
TheEmpathicEar
This new version is blocking all kinds of URLs - including "nsanedown". I added "**nsanedown**" to the list of exclusions in order to access this site and forum. But, is there a way to have ESS prompt you before blocking and give you an option to block/not block, etc.

But, is is possible to have ESET prompt you, instead of automatically excluding?EDIT: ESET is activated. Virus DB has been updated. Virus scan has run. But, Windows Action Center still reports no anti-virus program has been detected. You can turn of this notification, but why are ESET and Windows not communicating?Answer: http://kb.eset.com/esetkb/index?page=content&id=SOLN217&locale=en_US Edited May 23, 2014 by TheEmpathicEar
TheEmpathicEar
There seems to be some confusion about whether PureFix v2.03 works for this latest version of ESET. [After a normal install, and enabling PureFix] I had to do a "Repair Install" [see my previous post] on both my desktop [32-bit] and laptop [64-bit], both running Windows 7 Ultimate. On both PCs, I get "ESET Smart Security is activated".My question: How can you distinguish between a "Trial" and a "Permanent" activation? If it's a trial activation, would it specify? Or, not?EDIT: "dcs18" and "J.D", hopefully either one of you can add to this? dcs18
My question: How can you distinguish between a "Trial" and a "Permanent" activation? If it's a trial activation, would it specify? Or, not?It is a Trial activation which is for life (meaning permanent.) However, as far as the box, mara- activation is concerned - mara- has added an OEM information to his activation which is purely cosmetic. Some folks hate the OEM info. - personally, I like it (lends credibility to my copy.)EOD, it is not possible to discern from the ESET GUI whether one's activation is on Trial or OEM.As far as practicality is concerned, during huge server loads at ESET - OEM Users shall receive Virus Signature Database updates, on priority. I thought from what I read before of your posts that you had used the PureFix for activation. I am now suspecting that PureFix did not work. The question now: Can I simply apply the Box, Mara fix to my current install? [Or,do I have to start all over - uninstall, reinstall, apply Box, Mara, etc.] Edited May 24, 2014 by TheEmpathicEar

I thought from what I read before of your posts that you had used the PureFix for activation.Nope, on the contrary - I was surprised when it was reported working (check out my reply at post # 49, reproduced below):--We stopped using this fix after it's creator PurplebeanZ stopped development - I am pleasantly surprised that it worked. :dunno:Can I simply apply the Box, Mara fix to my current install? [Or,do I have to start all over - uninstall, reinstall, apply Box, Mara, etc.]You don't have to uninstall your copy of ESET only if the PureFix has the option of UnFixing it (before using the box, mara- fix.)When you first run the box, mara- fix, it cautions you to uninstall any other form of fixes - previously used. TheEmpathicEar
If you read my earlier post, after using PureFix [on both my laptop and desktop], I had error messages from ESET and it was as if the firewall component was not there. I did a "Repair Install", but was still left wondering if the activation was a trial or not.

TheEmpathicEar
Some final notes:1. PureFix not recommended for ESET 7.x - my personal experience2. On Both 32-bit/64-bit PCs, Box, Mara fix, started before installing ESET, worked flawlessly. This is clearly the way to go3. The 12/31/2014 date is of no concern? With purefix we managed to fix that problem. However; after installing ESS 7 x64 on windows 7, 8 & 8.1 the windows firewall had to be turned off manually + in action center ESET wasn't being spotted as installed. We checked and rechecked and found that every component was actually working perfect so we switched off notifications in action centerWe'll check if marafix is the way to go for this version of ESET ESS and AV Edited May 25, 2014 by Skunk1966

Windows firewall shuts down automatically when installing unattended ESS + no more warnings from action center. The reason for using marafix 1.7 is it doesn't show any expiration date :-)We only make Dutch versions so if members here like to check it out let me know. I could add an info textfile for members who can't understand Dutch. If there's a lot of interest in unattended ESET (all-in-one installer with all different versions + NOD Removal tool included) I can make it available here Edited May 25, 2014 by Skunk1966
