ESET Smart Security offers advanced detection technologies and multi-layered security features. Designed for a low footprint, fast scanning, it packs security features and customization options for consistent and personalized security on- or offline. ESET Smart Security is built on ESET's unique heuristic technology that identifies viruses that have never been seen before. This enables them to protect your computer proactively, in real-time, against new viruses and cyber threats that conventional signature-based antivirus products don't catch. ESET Smart Security has all the same features as ESET NOD32 Antivirus with the addition of parental controls, antispam module, and an intelligent firewall.

Thanks to thylacine for the update.

My ESS doesn't update to this latest version.. what's wrong? eset.com also shows that 7.0.317.4 is the latest but I got 7.0.302.26. Do I have to download this latest version from eset.com and then install it over my current one?

I am still using v6.x. Can I install this over that? Or, is it better to uninstall, backup settings, and install new version, restore settings?

It's possible - but, not recommended.

To derive optimal mileage across the longer term, I'd start right back at grass-roots with a clean and full installation - taking care to not restore settings (better to use a copy-paste method from the backup .XML file using Notepad or any alternative.)

Yep, that's the best way imo.

We're not planning to release this update as a PCU (program component update). Manual download and installation is required.

Do I just use the ESET built-in uninstaller or do I need to use something like Revo Uninstaller as well?

as dcs18 said...(not recommended), however you can do it..either by auto updates or overwritten with the latest version.

Hi iih1,

I'm running the ESET EAV (with COMODO standalone firewall) on Windows 7 Ultimate, SP1 and Windows 8.1 Update, Pro. :)

I find this release just slightly better than the previous build of the V7.

The ESET built-in uninstaller is quite good at what it does - have had bad experiences using 3rd party uninstallers (especially on the EAV & ESS.)

How good is the Import/Export settings feature in ESET Smart Security?
