anyone know of any good easy to use programs that can reliably be used to download videos off of youtube and other websites where videos exist?

used to use realplayer where it had a little tab at the top of the videos that could be downloaded, that was great but doesn't seem very popular any more

ok, here's the thing. you use your browser to navigate to the video you want to download right? then if you are already watching it right in front of you, why do you want to step... AWAY from it in order to fetch one tool that will end up taking you to the exact same place?

so um... my opinion is that the only natural option is a browser addon

kidding? about what? link doenst work.

You can try IDM - doesn't require you to step away from your browser (in fact, it allows you to continue watching your video even as it downloads it for you.)

Here is the direct link to the Retail version, listed at the FrontPage:--

Well, all the so called video downloaders out there are just crap. If you use them to download they won't download the selected quality format even after "force selecting it". I've tried almost all, but none of them work. The best baite would be to use IDM and enable its video downloading option under settings. Then, you just browse the video site using your browser, a video downloader pops up, you grab the link and download it with IDM. Best thing, you get the option to choose between all the available formats of the video.

thanks for the info, but so far out of the ones you have throw my way the VSO Downloader and the 1 click youtube video downloader for firefox seem to be doing the trick nicely, that IDM one just gets in my way soo much it lasted 5 minutes before uninstall.
