It means you can upload a file to your file hosting service account (say for example filestream.me) using a web URL, instead of regular downloading a file from web to your local hard disk. The file when downloaded is saved in your account for future downloading to your local computer. Remote uploading allows to download torrents as well other than program/apps from a web URL. You can than download these files from your account to your local computer HDD.

The process is very simple, here are the steps that works on almost every file hosting service:

1. Go to your file hosting service, login using your account credentials.

2. Click on Remote upload.

3. Enter the web URL of the file that you want to download say for example movies, apps, programs etc.

4. click the start button.

5. The file hosting service will than initiate the download of the file on their servers, and when the downloading completes, the file would show up in your account for your downloading it to your computer HDD.

I guess different service have different definition for this. I will explain it in general. Remote upload is where you can upload a file from one to another hosting site (or import to be precise) service. Upload speed varies depend on the site server rather than your connection speed. This whole process to be all done in cloud and this is why it was called "remote", make sense?

Some site support remote upload from other file hosting site, for example, FileFactory to Zippyshare.

Some site only support direct http links only. For example, Filehippo or any other direct download link.

Well, this is what I understand about remote upload. Correct me if I was wrong.
