I am not the smartest person in the World but I have used Acronis True Image Home for 15 plus years and Swore By Acronis, I loved it. I had to buy a new Computer, Windows 8.1 64bit and Acronis 2014 SUCKS. How can they release this CRAP as a Windows 8.1 Backup Solution? I have it installed. I have created Full System Backup. I was smart enough to make a Bootable Recovery CD and Thumb drive. I let it make Acronis Start up Recovery Manager and it said it did. I rebooted to try it out and after pressing F11 it Hangs and would not Boot into anything. I had to use the Bootable USB thumb drive to boot so I could remove the Acronis Start Up and Recovery Manager. I hate to think what will happen if I let it try to Recover My Hard Drive. I can not be the only one experiencing this. I think Acronis has SCREWED UP BIG TIME. Someone give me some feed back on this if you would.

Thanks in Advance. I guess I will use Windows Imaging as a Backup. ?????????

I think Acronis has grown to be a very bad solution unless you are Windows 7 or less. I wouldn't use for anything in the world in Win8 or above. There are much better solutions Casper Backups and Paragon Backup & Recovery 14.

someone there

I had the same issue .. had to remove acronis and install RollBack which is a very good solution to recover your system to any snapshot created before. Now I am happy with the RollBack it save my system more than 4 times after updating, and I will never use acronis true image again.

You brought up avery good point reviewing acronis true image.

Thanks for the fast Responses. I did not think I was dreaming all that CRAP Acronis does not do anymore. Looking into RollBack. Darn I hate to have to buy a Program. Ha!

the best natural way to backup is image for dos or windows or linux http://www.nsaneforums.com/topic/217513-terabyte-unlimited-image-for-windows-289-retail-portable/

if u use RRX (rollback rx ) then u should know the risk i only recommend RRX for expert users or developers and beta tester extra .....

Thanks for the Information and link.

I have it installed.

There lies your problem - I find folks come to grief (with most of these backup programs) because they insist on installing them instead of using the BootCD. :(

I've been enjoying great mileage with Acronis True Image Premium. :)

It is recommended to read the userguide thoroughly before using Rollback Rx.

Ask Myna for more info on Rollback Rx :tooth:

Looking into RollBack.

RollBack Rx PC is a unreliable restore program that's notorious for turning back to bite the butts of unsuspecting Users.

Read the userguide before using Rollback Rx or keep a recovery software at hand (I mean in a CD/USB) :P :P :P

I've suffered.... You don't have to.

Even if you don't read the userguide, read properly what's written in the window before clicking anything. Your age old experience with thousands of apps won't work here :D :D :D

RollBack Rx PC is just a glamorized version of the native Windows Restore points - nothing tech savvy about that (in fact, it's more suitable for Wannabes humping away on their prehistoric XPs than for the Modern range of OS.) Mind you, it's still terribly glitchy on GenNext GPT formatted volumes.

If you make a mistake with RollBack Rx PC, it's not gonna forgive you - you can kiss your data good-bye.

The best point about RollBack Rx PC which endears it to folks who use it loyally is that it returns the best ever restore time - unfortunately, backup/restore is not about timings (it's more about the integrity and certainty of the data restored.)

This is arguably the best review of Rollback Rx :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:

. . . . . . . . . . folks who use it loyally . . . . . . . . . .

And oh, before I forget, here's the humdinger - why are RollBack Rx PC Users so faithful to this program?

Well, just ask them to just attempt to uninstall RollBack Rx PC and you will receive your answer. :lmao:

Using ONLY in Win7 ; Acronis ( very bloated and heavy!), it never failed ,untill now!

Using Paragon and Active Boot Disk in Win8.1,works perfect !!

Anyway, according to the Acronis-site; the latest 2014-build should be compatible with Win8.1 !!(???)

Can confirm that the latest Acronis True Image Premium is compatible - have been using it on my 8.1 Update, regularly (have also cloned my personally configured image onto umpteen of other dissimilar hardware - across GPT and MBR.) ;)

I also have been using Acronis for about 15 years and yes, it has a few problems but it does make a good image of your hard drive even in 8.1. I make several full images and have always been able to restore to that point. Quite often I love to go back to the first image [ just after activation] for a completely new 8.1. I have all my software backed up for easy reinstal with their latest version

guys guys its is simple this image for dos 2 mb bootable clone all of ur drives (omit page file and hirbination file (reduce the size of the image) and a lot of customization like compression or ecryption ........) but most important that it boot in less than one 1 second and backup in short time , i restore my 8.1 image in 3 minute and xp image in lass than one minutes (these image Continent an updated systems and has all the necessary software pre installed )

i have tried every possible backup software that u guys know they are too buggy to slow too big they make me want to destroy my pc and throw it on the wall so i only recommend this one (small simple fast rich free !!!)

u can boot from cd or usb or form the pc it self (Hard drive using easybcd = software)

Hi,

Do you try to disable if present in your BIOS the option " Secure Boot " or something named like that ?

Cause sometimes this option can cause trouble.

Totally agree with those who say ATI 2014 works great with 8.1. For those who are having issues with it I assume you are not using the Live version of it.
