AlienForce1
:( ... or is it a virus effect ? ... or some files are corrupted ? :angry:ok , here are the facts :- windows update doesn`t work anymore ( I did run `WindowsUpdateDiagnostic.diagcab` , but didn`t solve the updates problem)- some sites are inaccesible thru IE11 , but are ok with Opera20- scanned laptop with mbam 2.0 , Hitman Pro and TDSSKiller -> nothing found- here are some screenshots : Edited May 1, 2014 by AlienForce1
AlienForce1
Another strange behaviours :- charms do not work- if I click on `Shutdown` from start-menu the laptop reboots instead of shutting down - this is what I get if I try to acces `PC settings` : Edited May 1, 2014 by AlienForce1

AlienForce1
I think I`ll adopt a more radical sollution -> format HDD (all , not only C) -> clean reinstall -> recover activation from backup ...

AlienForce1
Do you use any real time antivirus shield? On this PC no , I didn`t use one .I used Shadow Defender without any problems `till last few days . I think that I was wrong , because I entered on some `shady` sites in SafeMode with Network (and it seems that I learned in the hard way that ShadowDefender doesn`t protect you in SafeMode ...)After reinstall , maybe I`ll use a good AV , like KIS or nod32 . AlienForce1
It seems that DeepFreeze protects the PC , even if it is in SafeMode , but I`m not sure that I will go for it ... I think that I will return to classic PC protection (AV) ... , anyhow I`ll be more careful what I do when I`m in SafeMode
rudrax
Real-time AV is necessary and that's why they are popular. Otherwise, who would like feed prescious resources to it. People do it because it's really necessary.Never trust on system restore kind of functions. They may restore cleaned infections too. It's very hard to get cleaned after getting infected. You may get cleaned but you will never be mentally satisfied unless you do a reformat. Now, do a reformat. The process should be - format all the partitions including system reserved ones, delete all of them, create a pration, format and instal. Then instal a real time AV engine having good reputation and get a good firewal too - ZoneAlarm Pro is basic COMODO is complex.Good Luck.
