Please add a few examples: the file name, properties, and everything else you can find. Also, this is where these files are located (full address of the file folder - for example, C: \ Users \ {username} \ Documents \ folder or file name, for example, ajudfge34tg)
Also, when You find them? What You did before?

Thanks for the reply Kalju. Unfortunately the file is quite large so it is not visible for me to upload here. Is there a software that I can use to peek into the file? When I do the property of the file it just show as follows:

Name VI_0122

Type File

Folder path C:\Users\T\Documents

Size 697 MB

Date created 2/23/2012 9:29PM

Date modified 1/2/2029 7:32PM

Attributes A

Availability Available offline

Owner Home PC

I try to open with media utilities such as vlc player and mediamonkey and it failed to open.

Thanks again.

  1. Do You have only this one or much more?
  2. Do you use or have used any of the files recovery program?
  3. Do You use or have used any backup - makers?
  4. If not, then it's probably some kind: .zip, .rar, .iso or .exe file.

Yes. Try to open it with 7-Zip or mount it as an iso file.

You can add .exe to the name and run :D But that's dangerous, so only do it in isolation like vm or sandboxie.

First of all, thank you all for your advice and suggestion in this matter.

I took the above advise and add the zip extension to it and then unzip it, miraculously it shows the original ext as VOB file. Truth to be told, I have no idea what is going on.

This is the best forum I have ever visited. The members here are always eager to help and respectful.

Thank you

If it is located in your document files folder (as I understood it) and you do not know what it is, it's wisest to permanently remove it from there. You can upload it somewhere else - just in case and then destroy it from there permanently - use a "File Wiper" or "File Schredder". After You have done this, also clean and repair registry. I recommend is to use Registry First Aid (Rosecity software http://www.rosecitysoftware.com/reg1aid/).

Navigate to Folder Options >> View >> un-check (disable) Hide extension for known file types >> Apply >> OK.
